The Shale Flats spiral Mount Voskus as if bowed toward it in prayer, the land consisting of the same grey stone as the mountain. The Avoskelle happily live in these lands, making a living off of the fertile soil that hides under a shell of rock and the prowess of their fighting skills. It would be difficult to find an Avoskelle mercenary who didn't know how to cook, and a cook who did't know how to fight.

In most Avoskelle kitchens, it is common to see a gargoyle acting as sous chef. Crafted by the head of the kitchen, these gargoyles are perfect for any busywork that might need to be done to get dinner ready, and tend to pick up the cooking traits of their creator far quicker than any apprentice. These gargoyles sometimes stay in the kitchens longer than their head chef, and end up inheriting the kitchen after their death. The long lifespan of a gargoyle gives the eldest of these chefs a well-versed palate, and making them among the most sought after caterers in the Flats.
