The Adventures of Tintin is an animated television series co-produced, written, and animated by French animation studio Ellipse Programme and Canadian studio Nelvana Limited. The series is based on the comic book series of the same name by Belgian cartoonist Herg (.mw-parser-output .IPA-label-small{font-size:85%}.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-small{font-size:100%}French pronunciation: [e]).[1] 39 half-hour episodes were produced over the course of three seasons, originally airing in France, Canada, and the United States between 1991 and 1992.[2]

The global phenomenon that is Tintin finds a mostly faithful adaptation in the lovingly animated series The Adventures of Tintin, which originally aired in the US on HBO during the late '80s. For European audiences, Tintin is perhaps as popular as Mickey Mouse in the states, a beloved icon whose history has stretched over decades and whose books have sold hundreds of millions of copies.

American audiences may find a bit of culture shock in trying to understand the appeal of the brave reporter and his faithful canine sidekick, Snowy. Tintin himself is almost a blank slate, moving through his adventures with bravery but more often than not enlivened by the presence of eccentric villains and a creative cast of supporting characters. For kids, this may not prove an issue, as the momentum of the action will be enough to engage their imaginations. Teens and adults, however, will have to adapt expectations to fit the show's more esoteric storytelling and characterizations. It's a worthwhile series, but definitely a faithful adaptation of a bygone era in children's books.

The Adventures of Tintin is an animated television series based on the Franco-Belgian comic book series The Adventures of Tintin, drawn and written by Herg. Produced by Ellipse-Nelvana. It debuted in 1991, and all 39 half-hour episodes were produced over the course of three seasons.

The Black Island Parts 1 & 2 continue the craziness that Tintin seems to always be getting into. In these episodes, Tintin gets shot at when investigating a plane in trouble. A gang of foreigners then start to pursue Tintin and the excitement begins. The final episodes of season one The Calculus Affair Parts 1 & 2 are truly gripping having Professor Calculus get kidnapped prompting Tintin, Captain Haddock and Snowy to set out on a daring rescue mission.

Joining Tintin on his crazy adventures is his faithful dog Snowy, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus and the clumsy and bumbling detectives, Thompson and Thompson. For a television animated series, the show didn't shy away from some of the more mature subject matters such as murder, drug traficking, guns, politics and drinking.

While I haven't read all of Tintin's original adventures, I do have several and followed along while watching the corresponding episodes. For the most part, the animated series stayed true to the original material. It was surprising to see the specific mention of the smuggling of opium or the details of the Japanese/Chinese political conflict. It was also unexpected to see a character brandishing a sword and chase after Tintin while saying, "I'll cut off your head!"

As you can see, most episodes are two parts but many have continuing elements that carry over into later episodes. This adds to the big feel of the overall story and adventures. The movie due to hit theaters next month actual ly draws its story from 'The Secret of the Unicorn' and 'Red Rackham's Treasure.' If you've read those stories, seen the episodes or even the trailer for the movie, you know it's going to be a grand adventure.

It debuted in 1991. 39 episodes were produced over the course of its three seasons, dividing some album adaptations in two parts. It first aired on France 3 in France, La Deux in Belgium, HBO and Nickelodeon in the USA, Global Television Network and Family Channel in Canada and Channel 4 in UK.

Growing up, the  Tintin  books were my prized possessions. To me, Tintin became a smart and clever detective who could outdo any enemy and emerge victorious. Your article brought back innocent childhood memories of those adventures I always looked forward to reading. I hope the animated movie will live up to Tintin's legacy.

Japan is faced with mounting problems, a massive public debt, an aging and shrinking population and, seemingly, a Prime Minister for every season. But to take one example, Schuman's contention that policymakers aren't doing enough to encourage consumer spending just doesn't add up; shopping is a national pastime in Japan. And as for the "perennial savers"  perhaps the government could learn from the people and not the other way round. Japan certainly needs to adapt and change (processes that can take longer here), but its positioning and history of reinvention surely favor Japan in what is undoubtedly looking like the Asian century.
