[The 17th quantum spin workshop]

Location: [Tomokaze Shinko Hall, Naha, Okinawa/Zoom Online-Onsite hybrid event]

Event purpose

Quantum spin systems have long been important in the field of condensed matter physics, and even today they are actively studied both experimentally and theoretically as a stage for novel magnetic phenomena such as quantum spin liquids and spin liquid crystals.

Since 2005, the meeting has been held in San-in, Hokuriku, Echigo, Hokusetsu, Tokai-mura, and other places almost every winter, with many participants and more and more active discussions. Although the meeting has been held at various locations in past years, this year, due to the spread of the coronavirus, it will be held in a hybrid format with on-site presentations in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, and webcasting using Zoom. We would be happy if you could provide us with recent topics from a broad perspective, not limited to quantum spin systems.

Holding Policy

Although Okinawa Prefecture, where the conference will be held, is not under any state of emergency, we plan to hold the conference in a hybrid format, using a local venue and webcasting via Zoom, to prevent the spread of infection and to avoid overcrowding.

Online presentations and auditing from your accommodations or remote locations will also be available via zoom. In order to reduce the number of participants coming to the on-site venue, we plan to hold the conference over three days. In order to avoid having a large number of participants at the venue at one time, we will have a free discussion session at the afternoon of the second day. We encourage you to use this time to discuss in small groups using your own accommodations or the conference room.

We will leave it up to the speakers whether they wish to present on-site or online, but we ask that those who wish to present/participate on-site register by Saturday, April 2.

Free PCR testing service is currently available for those who take flights from major airports in Japan to Naha Airport (currently available for flights up to March 31; information for April and beyond will be available later). The test kit can also be delivered to your home, so please consider taking advantage of this service before you come to Okinawa in your responsibility.

Unfortunately, the above free PCR testing service seems to have ended at the end of last fiscal year. If you are planning to participate in the event on-site, please take advantage of PCR testing services provided by local governments or airline companies, etc.
