Project: A study on feasibility of PPPs as mitigation strategy for climate change.
Short Abstract
Transport, water and sanitation sectors offer opportunities for introducing elements of climate change mitigation and adaptation. Infrastructure-related mitigation measures could include: (i) promotion of transport PPPs that reduce or control the use of light and heavy-duty vehicles such as bus transit, and urban light rail, (ii) energy generation projects that promote usage of renewable energy (e.g. hydro, geo-thermal, wind, solar, biomass) and improve energy efficiency (e.g. energy-efficient street lighting), and (iii) low GHG water and waste projects for waste recycling, and wastewater treatment. The study investigated the applicability of employing PPPs as a means to help the cities adapt to climate change and is confined to PPP projects in waste and wastewater sector only.

Ph.D. Thesis:
Implementation Framework for Public Private Partnership Solid Waste Management Projects in India. 26 Dec 2014 - 28 Feb 2020
Supervisor: Prof. Boeing Laishram, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati.
Short Abstract
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) infrastructure has received little attention to understand the sectorial nuances and experience concerning the delivery of these assets and services. In this context, a study has been undertaken to study the positive and normative governance structures in keeping with the sectorial nuances. Firstly, attention has been given to understand why and when PPP is opted in practice and with what expectations. The results show that there is fundamentally a different behaviour in this sector on the usage of PPP and results that are achieved. Secondly, waste treatment is one of the components of the MSW supply chain which there is hardly any infrastructure across India. Hence, attention is devoted to understand the influence of technology choice in the risk profile of the PPP treatment projects. The findings stress that governments need to appropriately weigh the risks in the energy from waste projects to conclude how to deal with market and human factors particularly related to the PPP aspects of the public service. One specific nuance revealed while carrying these objectives is that MSW sector has a network structure for which difference procurement options are possible. This begs inquiry on how the urban local bodies need to make decision in this context. Using economic and organisational theories such as transaction cost economics, agency theory, and auction theory, a conceptual framework that can explain results of past (failed) projects and can suggest predictions to practitioners in the decision making of future projects. This framework is validated using six longitudinal case studies. The findings validate the framework and offer deep insights on the behaviours of the MSW projects from the perspective of bundling.

A Study on Assessment of Public Private Partnership Projects in Terms of Sustainability; 2012 - 2013
Supervisor: Prof. Boeing Laishram, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati.
The study developed a set of sustainable indicators, which will facilitate development of a framework for assessment of sustainability of PPP through questionnaire survey. Statistical analysis on the survey data shows a very good internal consistency making them highly reliable for its use as decision-making criteria. The framework can provide the basis for promotion of sustainability in PPP projects through incorporation of the indicators in the bid documents such as request for proposal and request for qualification so as to encourage private sector to adopt sustainable practices.

B.Tech Thesis Project: Experimental Evaluation of Retrofitted Concrete Beams Using CFRP and GFRP; 2010 - 2011.
In this study a beam model of 150 X 150 X 700 mm was considered. Four controlled specimens of PCC, RCC balanced, Weak-In-shear and Weak-In-Flexure were casted and four retrofitted specimens of corresponding types were prepared. Tests with the help of UTM were conducted and load carrying capacities of all the specimens were taken after the period of curing. Finally, comparative study was carried out between controlled and retrofitted Specimens from the results and observations. Graphical representation of the comparative study is shown.
