Mercy Centre is a shelter for street kids, five orphanages, a hospice, a home for

mothers and children with HIV/AIDS, a community meeting place, and a serene

haven in the slums with small gardens and playgrounds for over 40 years.

Besides that education is a major focus of the HDF‐Mercy Centre Organization. In

order to fill the gap for education of kids between 2 and 7 years HDF‐Mercy

Centre and a catholic priest called Father Joe Maier founded a one‐baht‐per‐day

preschool open to all children regardless of their backgrounds and religions.

Today HDF‐Mercy Centre operates 33 pre‐schools for over 2,500 children.

Since 2012 Thai.GERs have supported the pre‐school education of over 80 young

students at the Romklao Pre‐School in the slums of Bangkok Klong Toey. We are

very excited about the results of this project and have decided to continue it in

2020.
