"May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out" - J.R.R. Tolkien

In many ways, wading through the challenges of our society right now seems like navigating through a dark sea. Fortunately, performance is a light to us and our community. Each day, we have the opportunity to be that light for others whether through performance, a smile, or a kind word. Never underestimate the power of what you can achieve. Never take a moment for granted. Appreciate each other, lift each up, and always be the light. March on!

Schedule of the Week

TFB Schedule 9_14_20

1) THE SHOW IS ALMOST DONE! - Next Saturday, October 3rd, our show will be COMPLETE, and we would like to celebrate this day with a parent performance, tailgate, and movie night! The activities after our performance are optional but highly encouraged as they are typically STAPLES of the Franklin Band. We tried to build a new schedule for that day that allows those with conflicts to still perform before leaving. Hopefully all can participate in the days activities.

2) BOA MADE A CHANGE. Bands of America reached out to say they are eliminating their October 30th date and moving it to the 24th. We will now perform nation wide sometime in the afternoon of October 17th & 24th. We will NOT have rehearsal or perform on the 30th.

3) Check the calendar for a few changes within rehearsals or on dates. BUT - please know we intend this to be our FINAL CALENDAR for marching band. Phew, it has been challenging to gather concrete info to nail down dates, but we have made it so far. Thank you for your patience!

The WilCo Illness Guideline below is still in place.

The TN Health Department has taken over all contact tracing from the school/state. IF your child(ren) must quarantine, the Health Dept. will clearly communicate this. In order to return to school and/or practice, you must be released by the Health Dept. and show documentation of this release to one of the Band Directors.

One Franklin Community

Core Values

The purpose of The Franklin Band is to enhance the growth, maturity, and experience of all Franklin High School students.

We embrace the following Core Values to help us achieve our goals:

  • Community – The community in which we live and our own community within Franklin High School shape who we are, and we shape those communities in return.

  • Excellence – Employ a positive work ethic on our steady march toward excellence.

  • Enjoyment – Students should enjoy their band experience, their friends, their musical activities, and the processes involved with them.

  • Inclusive – Be a “big tent” organization, serving students of various abilities and backgrounds.

  • History – Value and reflect on our past while being innovative in new endeavors.

  • Engagement – The wants and needs of our student, parent, and community stakeholders are important to us.

  • Advocacy – Be advocates for music education, in neighborhood chats and in discussions with policy makers.

  • Versatility – Be well-rounded in what we do, but with a strong foundation in concert literature.

  • Challenge – Create an environment that challenges students and promotes personal growth.

  • Stewardship – Be good stewards of our resources, both personal and financial.

Look at and Click on the document below to see what tickets are available this week for swap page.

TFB ticket swap program: Fall 2020

Ticket swap moderators Jen McQuiston, Tiffany Fantine, and Amy Kendall will keep up a (view only) Google doc for each game, listing the tickets that are available for that week’s football game. This information document, with the link to each Google doc, will reside behind the login on The Franklin Band website. Login information can be obtained from your section parents if you do not already have it.

Families with tickets to sell should email with the number of tickets available and the dates they are available. Families should also provide the preferred method of contact for the ticket purchase. Please plan to email us that you have available tickets no later than Monday evening at 9 p.m. for inclusion in that week’s ticket batch.

Families who wish to purchase tickets can log in and see what tickets are available for a particular game starting at 7 p.m. on the Tuesday immediately before Friday’s game. Families will reach out directly to the ticket holder and arrange for payment and pickup/return of tickets; ticket swap moderators will not be involved in ticket sales, pickup, or return.

Tickets will be priced at $15 per ticket and must be sold as a package, i.e. if Joe has two tickets to sell, the buyer must buy both; we need to be sure that social distancing between family groups is preserved. Buyers, please keep in mind that the tickets are REUSABLE PASSES; be courteous about returning the passes to the ticket seller in a timely manner, as that family will need the passes for the next game.

Once a swap has been agreed to, the ticket holder should email as soon as possible; we will edit the Google doc to reflect that those tickets are no longer available.

Reminders will be posted about the ticket swap in the GroupMe and the weekly Cadence.

Please be mindful of others who were unable to purchase tickets, particularly for senior parents on senior night. We’d love for all TFB parents to be able to attend at least two games.
