TextSnap Privacy Policy

TextSnap - OCR Scanner & Translator

Last updated: June 05, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Android app TextSnap - OCR Scanner & Translator, package name com.hengde.textsnap.

This Privacy Policy explains how TextSnap - OCR Scanner & Translator ("TextSnap", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App. It is written to match the current Android application implementation.

TextSnap is an OCR, translation, and document export utility. The App does not currently require account registration or login, and it is designed so that OCR and translation content is processed on your device unless you choose to export, share, or otherwise send content outside the App.

Information We Collect and Use

Information you provide or choose to use in the App

TextSnap may access or process the following information only when you use the relevant feature:

· Images selected from your photo library, when you choose an image for OCR.

· Images captured with your camera, when you choose to take a photo for OCR.

· Text recognized from images, edited by you, copied by you, translated by you, or exported by you as a PDF or Word document.

· Language preferences and OCR-related settings stored locally on your device, such as selected OCR/translation language and OCR mode.

· Local history records created by the App, such as scan history, translation history, and export history, including timestamps, recognized text, translated text, selected languages, file names, file locations/URIs, and references to images you selected or captured.

The App does not currently create user accounts, collect passwords, collect contacts, collect precise location, process payments, or include advertising SDKs.

Camera, photo, and storage permissions

TextSnap requests permissions only to support App features:

· Camera permission is used to take photos for OCR.

· Photo or storage access is used to let you select images from your device. On older Android versions, read/write storage permissions may be requested for compatibility.

· Internet access is used for Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics and for Google ML Kit translation model downloads when a language model is needed.

You can enable or disable these permissions at any time through your device settings. Some features may not work if the relevant permission is disabled.

OCR and translation processing

TextSnap uses on-device OCR and translation technologies, including Google ML Kit. Images and recognized text are intended to be processed locally on your device for OCR and translation features.

For translation, Google ML Kit may download offline language models to your device. The App may use the internet to download these models. Translation models are reused after download where supported. We do not operate our own server to receive your images, OCR text, or translated text.

If you copy text, export a PDF or Word document, share an exported document, or send an email to us, that action is controlled by you and may make the selected content available to other apps or services involved in that action.

Usage Data and diagnostics

TextSnap uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage, improve reliability, and diagnose crashes. These services may collect information such as:

· Device information, operating system version, app version, app instance identifiers, and general diagnostic data.

· Feature events, such as camera tap, gallery selection, OCR start/success/failure, translation start/success/failure, document export, and copy text actions.

· Non-content metrics such as selected source type, OCR mode, language code, duration, confidence value, text length, error reason, and crash stack traces.

TextSnap is not designed to send your actual image content, OCR text, translated text, or PDF contents to Firebase Analytics. However, crash reports and diagnostics may include technical information generated by the system or libraries that helps us fix issues.

Local files, history, and cached data

TextSnap may create and store files and local database records on your device, including:

· Temporary cropped images in the App cache.

· Photos captured for OCR in app-specific storage.

· PDF and Word files exported by you, typically under the Documents/TextSnap folder on supported Android versions.

· Offline translation model files and other local files used by OCR and translation features.

· Scan, translation, and export history stored locally in the App database to let you review previous results.

Local cached files and local history records may be removed by clearing the App cache or App data, by deleting history items in the App where available, or by uninstalling the App. Exported PDF and Word files remain on your device until you delete them.

How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

· To provide OCR, image cropping, translation, copy, history, and PDF/Word export features.

· To remember your language and OCR preferences on your device.

· To monitor feature usage and app reliability through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.

· To troubleshoot errors, crashes, and performance issues.

· To respond to support requests if you contact us by email.

We do not use your information to manage accounts, provide public profiles, serve personalized ads, or send marketing messages because those features are not currently part of the App.

Sharing of Information

We may share limited information in the following situations:

· With service providers: We use Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, and Google ML Kit for OCR/translation functionality and model downloads. These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

· With your action or consent: If you choose to share an exported PDF or Word document, copy text to the clipboard, open a file in another app, or email us, the relevant content may be handled by the apps or services you choose.

· For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or security.

· Business transfers: If the App or related business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a replacement policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not currently share personal information with advertising networks or data brokers.

Retention

TextSnap keeps most user content on your device. Images, cropped images, recognized text, translated text, local history records, and exported PDF/Word files are retained according to your device storage, App cache/App data, and your own deletion choices.

Language preferences, App settings, and local history records are stored locally until you change them, delete history items where available, clear App data, or uninstall the App. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data are retained according to Firebase settings and applicable Google policies. We use analytics and crash data only for app improvement, diagnostics, and reliability.

If you contact us by email, we may retain your message and contact information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request and maintain support records.

International Transfers

TextSnap may use service providers, including Google Firebase and Google ML Kit, whose systems may process diagnostic or service-related data in countries or regions outside your own. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You can also:

· Disable camera or photo permissions in device settings.

· Delete exported PDF and Word documents from your device storage.

· Delete history items in the App where the history feature provides deletion controls.

· Clear App cache or App data through Android settings.

· Uninstall the App to remove App-specific local data from your device, subject to Android storage behavior and files you exported outside the App.

· Contact us to request information about data associated with support communications you sent to us.

Because TextSnap does not currently use accounts, some data is stored only locally on your device and may not be accessible to us.

Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for managing files you export, share, or copy outside the App.

Children's Privacy

TextSnap is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services that may collect or process information as described by their own privacy policies, including:

· Google Firebase Analytics

· Google Firebase Crashlytics

· Google ML Kit

We recommend reviewing Google's privacy disclosures for more information about how Google handles data for these services.

Links and External Actions

The App may open other apps or services when you choose actions such as sharing an exported PDF or Word document, opening a document viewer, copying text, or sending an email. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party apps or services you choose to use.
