Tex Gyre Pagella Font Download

Am I supposed to download and install these fonts myself? Or should they be already installed with texlive? If the former is the case, what's the recommended place to download and install these fonts?

If you select the font by file name rather than font name you won't run into the problem. On the other hand, it's certainly nice to use the font name so you can create a symbolic link of /Library/TeX/Root/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype in ~/Library/Fonts; e.g. ln -s /Library/TeX/Root/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype ~/Library/Fonts/TeXOTFFonts (all on one line of course). When you open Font Book you may have to drag and drop that folder onto Font Book to have it register the fonts.

If you insist on Type 1 fonts (cf. Wikipedia: PostScript fonts), you could use the package mathpazo. Load this before loading of TeX Gyre Pagella, because mathpazo itself redefines also \rmdefault to a Palatino variant.

Unfortunately, version 3 currently only supports the MathJax TeX font, so Gyre-Pagella is not yet available. Phase II of the v3 conversion involves porting the other web fonts to v3, including STIX2, and the web fonts from v2. It will make the font toolchain available so that others can convert their own fonts as well. That work is currently underway, and should be made available this summer. But for now, with v3, you will have to stick with the MathJax TeX fonts.

Here is a website, which wants to use the Palatino font. On my system, this falls back to Tex Gyre Pagella, also called P052-Roman. Here is what it looks like, it's immediate that the different letters don't have the same height.

The answer to the question linked above claims the problem is with hinting, but applying the fix did not work. I also tried to change the font names URW Palladio L etc to P052-Roman and Tex Gyre Paella.

I happen to have the (four) Palatino Linotype font (i.e. .ttf) files installed and the web page that you cited looked pretty normal to me on Firefox, so maybe you can solve this issue by just downloading the Palatino Linotype .zip package from a fonts distribution site such as e.g. Fonts 100, extracting those four Palatino font files (i.e. pala.ttf, palab.ttf, palabi.ttf and palai.ttf) to any folder that you want (e.g. ~/Fonts/), and then installing these files through a font installer such as gnome-font-viewer or fontmatrix.

Then, at the fontmatrix window, click on File, then Import Files..., then select those 4 .ttf files (pala.ttf, palab.ttf, palabi.ttf and palai.ttf) at the folder/directory where you extracted them to (e.g. ~/Fonts) and then click Open. Next, scroll down to Palatino Linoype and double-click on it, then click on Activation, click on Activate All, then exit fontmatrix, restart Firefox and access that web page again.

As a last resource (extreme case), you can always use Firefox to access the about:config URL, then look for the browser.display.use_document_fonts feature and switch its value from 1 to 0.

If your final goal is to show the page in clear font, you have the option to override the page fonts as described in details in this Mozilla support page: Application Menu > Settings > Fonts and Colors > Advancedthen uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above".

This way, the page will appear with the font you choose.

Yes, I installed otf-texgyre-pagella-math from AUR. Also, if I use Tex Gyre Schola Math, which is from the same package, I don't get any error... I don't know what is wrong with my Pagella installation, probably some duplication and the default name points on the broken installation. Anyway, thanks for your hint, even though I have the path in my texlive font directory list, it didn't load properly. I changed my command now to:

The command \fontfamily{qcr}\selectfont will set the TeX gyre cursor font typeface, whose fontcode is qcr, for the text inside the braces. A lot more LaTeX font typefaces are available, see the reference guide.

I have struggled for the better part of a day installing fonts to use with my Shiny App deployed on ShinyApps.io, however I have not been able to make this work, and am reluctantly requesting assistance. I have followed the instructions from the solution from this stackoverflow post - -with-customized-font-not-showing-properly-on-shinyapps-io - which calls for the following in my R script:

I have created the www directory locally and added the fonts. These are the 2 fonts I'd like to have installed. However my app still returns an error after deploying to ShinyApps, indicating in the logs that:

Note that I tried to import my fonts in my app using different names (IndieFlower-Regular, IndieFlower, Indie Flower, etc.) as a debugging effort. However, as can be seen in the logs, all of these return the error that they are not found in the PostScript font database.

Linotype licensed Palatino to Adobe and Apple who incorporated it into the PostScript digital printing technology as a standard font. This guaranteed its importance in digital and desktop publishing and made it (or a variant of it) a preinstalled font on most computers. As with many popular fonts, knockoff designs and rereleases under different names are common. Zapf retained an interest in the design, and continued to collaborate on new versions into his eighties.

Due to Palatino's increasing popularity in body text, multiple versions have been released for the changing technologies of handsetting, hot metal typesetting, phototypesetting and digital font design.
