Open the light show app in the car and hit the drop down menu. You can do this with as many light shows as you want...I think. I have about 10 loaded on the usb and they all display they file names I assigned.

Keep posts on-topic and related to Tesla light shows. This can include sharing videos of Tesla light shows you have created or found elsewhere, asking for help creating light shows or other general discussion around light shows.

The Tesla engineering team put together a great readme and linting tool which they published under the teslamotors Github organization here. It covered most of the details I needed as long as I was willing to jump around a bit as I progressed.

I then downloaded the sequenece model the Tesla engineering team created and provided a link to in this section of the readme and imported it into xLights. This pulls in the 3D car model with the 46 channels (lights, windows, doors, etc) that are configurable and provides a nice visual layout when testing out the light show in xLights.

I downloaded the example, put it into Downloads->Tesla_Light_Show->Smooth_Jazz->LightShow, copied that folder over to the USB, plugged it into the car and tested it out. Thankfully it worked the first time! Note that I had to wait for a progress bar at the bottom of the modal to complete before pressing play or it would play the last loaded light show.

Now this is where the fun part actually begins, I needed to create the .fseq file using xLights which contains all the effects matched up to the audio. To do this I opened xLights, created a new sequence and imported the mp3 file. I put on some headphones and proceeded to try and grok the xLights interface and add effects 10-15 seconds at a time. Once I had a good chunk added I would play it back and modify the effects until they lined up with the audio (or close enough!). Once I got through the first chorus, verse and bridge I was able to start chunking the sequences with copy/paste. I would then overlay some additional effects to build the light show as it progressed through the song.

According to the Tesla light show readme there is a max of 651 effects allowed and so they wrote a python validator script to help sequence authors figure out if they were within the parameters. Once I completed the light show and saved the .fseq file to the LightShow folder I ran that tool. Apparently I had a lot more effects I could still add, maybe I will revist this sequence again another time.

I spent roughly 4 hours getting from no idea how to create a light show for my car to understanding and creating one from scratch so kudos to the Tesla engineering team for good documentation and picking a tool (xLights) that has a decent interface for creating a sequence. I had a blast creating this light show and intend to create more in the future that makes full use of the advanced effects including tailgate open/close and light ramping.

One final note is it did occur to me that it would be nice to have a single USB with multiple custom light shows and the display would provide a picker with the list of shows available. I filed a Github RFE which was promptly closed as a dupe of #8. When I took a look at that issue it appears the team appreciated the suggestions but did not commit to implementing it. So a typical Tesla response.

TeslaLightShows.io creates a number of Exclusive light shows which are published on our community site for FREE however, sometimes the community may have a particular show which may not be in our library.

If you would like to request a custom light show, you can do so here. The average awesome show takes 4-6 hours to configure, for a single car and longer for a multi-car light show with independent car configurations.

When you order a custom Tesla Light Show, all of your contribution goes to keeping the server lights blinking and supporting site enhancement.

Please note that some of the Tesla Light Shows are available for free in the internet. Many light shows have been created by talented Tesla fans all around the word. If you like the light shows, support the authors by donating to them directly if possible.

On a chilly November evening, the Vermo race track in Espoo, Finland, became the stage for a record-breaking spectacle. Here, 687 Teslas, from Model 3s to Model Xs, lit up the night in a synchronized dance of lights and music, setting a new world record for the largest Tesla light show.

The event wasn't just a display of lights; it was a testament to community and innovation. Local businesses and major sponsors, including Michelin and Tesla Finland, supported the event, offering prizes and test drives. This communal effort showcases the unique bond within the Tesla community, where technology meets creativity.

This remarkable achievement sets a new benchmark in the world of Tesla Light Shows. With such creativity and enthusiasm in the Tesla community, it won't be surprising if this record is soon surpassed. For Tesla owners intrigued by this spectacle, Pollock's website offers the chance to download the light show files, inviting more to join in this artistic expression of technology.

In a post from Helsinki, Finland, on Saturday, X user IMettomaki shared videos of what seems to be the new record for the largest Tesla light show, which reportedly had over 687 of the cars on-site, nearly tripling the old record-breaker, according to the post. The videos show the massive fleet of Teslas flashing their lights in highly syncopated rhythms to the song.

In the videos, you can see the close coordination between the many cars as they utilize the headlights and taillights to create massive, sometimes red-colored auras around the outdoor space. The bright coordinated lights are also highlighted by their absence when all the vehicles turn them off for brief instants throughout the videos.

Prior to the record-breaking Tesla light show in Germany, the previous record was thought to have been held by a San Luis Obispo, California event which held a coordinated show with 170 Tesla vehicles to over 2,300 attendees.

The light display was designed by HVpad, an independent creator of custom light shows for Tesla vehicles, and it can be run on any Tesla vehicle that supports the light show feature. More information can be found on this GitHub page.

A video of the light show, set to the popular song in the Indian film "RRR," was shared on Twitter Monday by business executive Vamsi Koppuravuri, who helped coordinate the light show and meet-up. The official "RRR" account also shared footage from the event, which has racked up over 8.8 million views.

"Naatu Naatu," which this year became the first song from an Indian film to win the Oscar for "Best Original Song," can be heard playing in the video as rows of Tesla car lights flash on and off to the beat.

The tribute to the song was organized by the North American Seema Andhra Association and People Media Factory production company, according to the video. The light show concept was created by Vamsi Kopporavuri, and Ujwal Kumar Kasthala helped organize the event in less than a week after the song's Oscar win, the Times of India reported.

"Truly overwhelmed by this tribute to #NaatuNaatu from New Jersey," S.S. Rajamouli, who directed "RRR," tweeted out, along with a video showing the light show's set-up and performance. "It was a stunning show," he added.

Tesla's holiday update in December introduced the ability for Tesla owners to schedule and sync up their cars for light shows accompanied by music. The update was announced with a video showing Tesla cars synced to a rock rendition of the holiday song "Auld Lang Syne."

Tesla's light show functionality originally debuted with the Model X in 2016, which introduced the ability for the vehicles to perform light shows complete with moving car doors set to "Wizards in Winter" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

A video showing Tesla cars put up a light show on the beats of the Oscar-winning RRR song Naatu Naatu has grabbed the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. On Monday, he reacted to a video shared by RRR's official Twitter handle. The short clip showed hundreds of Tesla cars in a parking lot in New Jersey, US, as they put up a light show to the beats of Naatu Naatu. Reacting to the clip, Elon Musk dropped two heart emojis. What's nifty here is the whimsy and fun that Tesla has managed to deploy to much of its fleet of recent EVs, at no cost, long after delivery. It really highlights the amazing capabilities that software reprogrammability allows, and the power of delighting existing customers long after the sale. This is what you do to bring people joy, and to share that joy with others. No hacker skills required, how to prepare your USB drive, download the 2 files, and run (or edit) the xlights-based light show is all right on github, announced by Tesla in their recent v11 software announcement:

Tesla Light Show: Anybody with a computer can now create their own unique Tesla Light Show, no Tesla vehicle required. Using xLights, free open-source software, you can create a light show to perform with any music of your choice. You can then download your show, or shows from other creators, onto a USB flash drive and upload it to your car. 006ab0faaa
