In preparation for the upcoming series of skills competition starting from the Provincial, Regional up to National Skills Competition within the year and in compliance to the instruction of the Skills Competition Committee from the Central Office – timeline on the conduct of Local Skills Competitions are set.
TESDA Provincial Office – Camarines Norte is set to conduct Provincial Skills Competition this coming April 2022. Consequently, the Office proposed a series of activities in line with the said purpose in order to meet the set deadline per Skills Competition scheduled to Regional and National Level.
On March 21, 2022, special meeting of all TVET Providers in the Province was held at La Consolacion College of Daet as joined by Education Program Supervisor of SHS-TVL Mr. Darcy Guy Y. Mañebo of DepEd Camarines Norte, representative of the CN Division Superintedent Nympha D. Guemo who was invited to participate in the said undertaking.
Subsequently, Seventeen (17) skills areas were identified to compete in the Provincial Level involving students of Senior High School – Technical Vocational and Livelihood Track per Mr. Mañebo’s eagerness to include theirs. Those areas that were identified are, Welding, Electrical, Electronics, Restaurant Services, Bakery, Cookery, Hairdressing, Fashion Technology, Wall and Floor Tiling, Landscape Gardening, Floristry, Patisserie and confectionery, Mechatronics, Graphic Designs, Hotel Reception, Web Technologies, and IT Software Solution for Business.
There were four (4) venues for the Skills Competitions were identified - TESDA Provincial Training Center – Camarines Norte for Hard Trades; Mabini Colleges, Inc. for the IT-related areas; St. Francis Caracciolo Culinary Academy, Inc. for the Tourism Sector and Dep-Ed has to determine/identify a venue for those skills areas that they have a competitor.
Ms. Merlita C. Yanto, Scholarship Focal of the Provincial Office discussed the updates on Scholarship Program CY 2022. She emphasized the new Omnibus Guidelines on Scholarship Program more particularly on the new and salient provisions stipulated in the said guidelines. Further, she encouraged the TVET Providers especially those with existing trainees to participate in the nationwide implementation of GCASH disbursement of scholarship allowances among scholars.
Updates on Program Registration’s requirements for the Single Qualifications and Diploma Program were further reiterated by Mr. Tobias M. Obrero, Jr., Sr. TESDS - UTPRAS Focal. The meeting was adjourned after the Open Forum followed by the closing remarks rendered by the newly promoted Center Administrator Ms. Quennie A. Enriquez, TESDA PTC – CN.
