Tesco Mobile Limited is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. It is operated by British retailer Tesco, using the network O2 as its carrier except in Ireland, where the network operator is Three Ireland.

Tesco Mobile was established in May 2003[4] and launched pre-paid mobile services in Tesco stores and online by the end of the year.[5] In January 2014, the network in the United Kingdom started offering 4G service, for its pay monthly and SIM only customers at no extra cost, extending the service to pay as you go customers in July of that year.[6][7]

In December 2006, Tesco Ireland announced that it would enter into a joint venture with O2 Ireland to offer mobile telecommunications services.[10] The service, which was Ireland's second MVNO (the defunct Cellular 3 having been the first), used the O2 network but operates separately. It has been allocated the area code 089. As with Tesco's mobile service of the United Kingdom, it is branded Tesco Mobile.[10] The network commenced operation in 2007. Tesco Mobile had 375,000 customers in Ireland as of August 2017.

In December 2009, Tesco Stores SR announced that it would enter into a joint venture with Telefnica Slovakia to offer mobile telecommunications services. The service, which is Slovakia's second MVNO (the naymobile having been the first), uses the O2 network but operates separately.

All Tesco Mobile phones are set to restrict access to adult content, but you can also choose to block access to content suitable for 12+. Content blocking will only work when the device is using the mobile network, not the home WiFi.

@13challenge @tescomobile But does not explain why your service is ALWAYS interrupted by "something". Ive been told to wait until service is restored before compensation is arranged, right now I have zero faith of that happening before my contract runs out in 2025! 2 lines, 95pcm and no service!!

@CFCFanVI STILL NO INTERNET @ThreeUKSupport Having to piggy back my husband's Tesco mobile to see the game on my laptop. Hope a refund for the downtime will be made. Still no @ThreeUK phone either! 


@FieryFrancis @tescomobile @IM_org Whole service is down for my mrs since about 10am this morning, cant call out or text or use 5g etc. And so far she has received no update or reasoning, we had to go on here to find out others have the same issue, will be expecting compensation for the loss of service.

I have escalated the issue but I haven't received updates of what is being done. Furthermore, I have arrived in Greece on 13/12/23 and I have no comms with the uk. Disgraceful!

@MightyQuin3023 @tescomobileTesco mobile delivers a trip down memory lane to a time when mobiles were just about unusable. The data service rarely works at all. Surely the O2 infrastructure they run on cannot be this bad ? 


@hazel5200112534 Contact @tescomobile countless times to be told by two different colleagues its their error and fob me off repeatedly to different departments/people and be told they WILL sort it out to then be told they wont! Instead i get told i have to waste a 3rd day waiting for a courier

@KevinHa44259763 @tescomobile For over a week I had no service which Tesco mobile said was due to cell tower issues. After two weeks it transpires the issue was a faulty Tesco mobile solution is to do a warranty claim on a phone I have had for 3 months and not been able to use for 2 weeks.

@DavidDeejc @tescomobile absolutely shocking service. Chat staff made an error on Sunday which I didn't request, I was advised I wouldn't lose service as a result of their error. Final straw last night when all functionality went off. Wish I hadn't went with you now.

Tryong to top up on Tesco mobile with my monzo card, payment goes through and gets immediately refunded. This is through the Tesco 4444 number and the mobile app. Same top up works normally witha a Barclays card. Any issue with Tesco payments at the moment?

Mobile networks will be gradually switching off their 2G and 3G networks. All the mobile providers have confirmed with the UK Government that they do not plan to offer their 2G and 3G services beyond 2033.

Virtual networks (otherwise known as Mobile Virtual Network Operators), such as Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile and Smarty, operate off the main four mobile network operators. As such, their schedules will mimic the parent network.
