What is a web-activated standalone license?
A web-activated standalone license is a type of license that allows you to run Etabs on a single computer without the need of a USB key. The license is locked to multiple hardware criteria of your computer, such as the Ethernet address, CPU info string, and UUID. The license is activated through the internet using an activation key that is provided by CSI after you purchase the product. The activation key is required to activate, deactivate, reactivate, or renew the license. You can move the license from one computer to another by deactivating it on the old computer and activating it on the new one using the same activation key.
How to obtain an activation key for a web-activated standalone license?
To obtain an activation key for a web-activated standalone license, you need to complete a sales order with CSI. As part of the sales order, you will provide a licensing contact, who will receive the activation key by email once the order is complete. This email should be saved as it contains your activation key which is required to license your product. The email also contains instructions to download, install, and activate the license.
How to use an activation key for a web-activated standalone license?
To use an activation key for a web-activated standalone license, you need to run the license activation tool (StandAloneKey.exe) which is installed with the product. You can find this tool in the CSiLicensing subfolder of the product installation directory, or in the Windows Start menu under the product folder. When prompted, copy and paste the activation key into the tool. During activation or renewal, the tool will determine the locking code of your computer, retrieve a license through the internet, and automatically save the license file on your computer. To run Etabs, you do not need a continuous internet connection, but you do need administrative rights and internet access when moving or renewing the license.

Please note that any changes affecting any of the locking criteria of your computer, such as maintenance, repair, or reformatting, will cause the license to no longer work and also prevent the license from being deactivated. Please deactivate the license before taking any action that may alter any of the locking criteria.
