Greg Herriges – guitar, bouzouki, vocals
rundio – Chapman stick, electronics
Michael Bissonnette – drums and percussion
Three uniquely talented musicians join to combine ancient and modern, East and West, into a stirring mix of “progressive world music” with futuristic flavors. Greg Herriges plays (and sings into) his guitar and Greek bouzouki with a unique approach honed by his studies of Asian and other international styles. Rundio represents the 21st century with Chapman Stick, a 10-stringed tapped instrument that sings like a bass, a piano, an electronic orchestra, and sometimes all at once. Michael Bissonnette juggles an array of percussion including cajon, frame drums, glockenspiel, and Aztec death whistle. The music ranges from ancient Mediterranean folk to Western pop, worldly surf-jazz, and dazzling all-of-the-above originals. You’ll hear unusual renditions of familiar tunes, and be treated to some of the most compelling new sounds.
Greg Herriges's "whirled music" mixes Asian and other world styles with progressive rock and Western classical influences. His primary instruments are the guitar and bouzouki (Greek lute). A virtuoso performer and award-winning composer, his music and writing have found international recognition. Greg is: a recipient of artist fellowships and grants from the Bush and McKnight Foundations and the Metro Regional Arts Council; a soundtrack artist and music director for film and theater; and author of instructional music books for Hal Leonard Publishing, specializing in world music for guitar.
Louis Sinclair, a.k.a. rundio, makes original music that ranges from ambient/environmental washes of sound to classical to progressive jazz/rock. His favored instrument is the Chapman stick, a 10-stringed instrument played by tapping the strings with both hands. A state-of-the-art performance rig allows a tremendous range of sonic expression, combining the modern technologies of looping, digital simulation, sampling, and synthesis with an emotive expression that can only come from a lifetime of "old school" performance experience.
Michael Bissonnette’s varied musical career has taken him from Massachusetts to California to Minneapolis, where he has become one of the area’s most beloved drummers. He has mastered percussion instruments from around the world including the berimbau, cuica, and pandeiro from Brazil; the doumbek from the Middle East; the djembe, log drums and caxixi from West Africa; the Irish bodhran; and the American drum kit. He has performed and recorded with: Katie McMahon (the original voice of Riverdance); Laura MacKenzie; Heart of the City; Boiled in Lead; Glen Helgeson/Axis Mundi; Louis and Clarke; and many others.
