The Final Knock
The Final Knock
He walked up to my door
He knocked
I asked,
"Who's there?"
Silence echoed.
Wind slowly crept in the room.
I looked.
I froze.
He's here.
Terror takes hold.
Atop the stairs — I saw him.
Air thins.
He's close
He's here.
It's Death.
Nearer and nearer he came,
Closer with every breath.
He took my life like stolen air.
Then left my body
Still in death.
