Channel expansion
Tektronix also announced today new wholesale distributor relationships with Ingram Micro and Tech Data Corp., and an increased number of authorized reseller locations around the world. These new relationships build on relationships established with MicroAge, Inacom and Access Graphics, giving Tektronix increased reach across a broad reseller base.
"Today, more and more resellers are asking for color printing solutions. In this area, we expect to see the fastest growth in color laser printers," said Al Mann, vice president of purchasing for Ingram Micro, based in Santa Ana, California. "We are pleased to add Tektronix to Ingram Micro's broad range of printing solutions."
"Tektronix is a very strong player in the specialty and commercial class color printer markets," said Jeff Marinangel of Tech Data, vice president of peripheral product marketing. "Our resellers serve a wide range of end users and are well positioned to help Tektronix reach new customers across the United States."
The channel expansion will make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to obtain Tektronix color laser printers and enhance the penetration of the Tektronix brand in the growing business color printing market. Tektronix's sales channels have grown more than 30 percent in the last 12 months under the expansion initiative, with an additional 25 percent growth expected by the end of 1997.
Dual technology approach captures the enterprise market
Tektronix is the only company to offer two color laser technology options for the business market: the affordable Phaser 350 solid-ink color laser printer and the high-performance Phaser 560 color laser printer.
Tektronix's dual-technology approach, along with aggressive pricing and attention to performance value, are helping bring 'no excuses, no penalties' color to more types of offices every day, ranging from entrepreneurs to small businesses and groups. corporate work. Tektronix color laser and solid ink technologies are versatile and highly scalable. As a result, the price of Tektronix Phaser color laser printers has steadily dropped, while performance and value have continued to increase. They are proven leaders and have captured approximately 35 percent of the business color laser printing market. No other company sells more color laser printers than Tektronix.
The business color printing market continues to grow. Analysts have charted an expansion of 39 percent from 1995 to 1996, and various industry sources predict compound annual growth rates of up to 49 percent from 1996 to 2001.
