Before setting out to interview Tejinder Singh Bhatia, I had always believed that real estate was a huge profit making sector and was an extremely competitive one at that. The competition is so fierce that a company can only exist and make profits if it has the money to sustain itself, such as what DLF has done. It's a very difficult sector, where you survive only with the right amount of capital. This can't be done without having experienced management and the right people in the right place. So, in my opinion, the big corporations have a right on their side when they have the capital to spend on advertising and do not think small cooperative groups like Housing cooperatives (HC) are capable of pulling off this mammoth of a project. Cooperation is always looked down upon by big companies as they believe it lacks funding capabilities, but I believe its small cooperatives who pull off this huge project that can sustain themselves well enough for a considerable period of time.

 

The most important takeaways from this post are the importance of reading business reports and financial statements, as well as charting going forward. Every business plan should have a detailed financial statement of the company's assets and liabilities.
