Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions that are not on this list, please feel free to email us at teenshelpingseniors.metrowest@gmail.com (regional contact) or at teenshelpingseniors@gmail.com (national contact).

Questions from Seniors:

How do I pay for the groceries?

Our volunteers are very flexible when it comes to payment options. Most seniors opt to simply receive a call about 15 minutes before the delivery with the cost of the groceries and leave a check out in front. However, we can also work with apps like Venmo and Cashapp.

Is there an additional cost for the delivery service?

No - our service is completely free!

What sanitary precautions do you take?

Our volunteers are mandated to wear gloves and a mask, and wipe down bags and groceries in accordance with CDC guidelines. They also sign a binding pledge that they experience no cold/flu symptoms and have not been out of the country or around anyone who has tested positive in the previous two weeks. If you want further information, you can view our official sanitary guidelines here.

Do you only do groceries or can you pick up other essential items like medication?

Our volunteers are cleared to pick up anything essential, including medication.

What if the volunteer can’t find one of my items?

Our volunteers will only buy items explicitly on your list. If they can’t find something, they are instructed to contact you and not reach a personal judgement for a substitute (unless you tell them otherwise). You will only be charged for items that you agree to purchase.

How do I place an order?

Click here to go to an order form where you will put in your information, what you need along with any preferences for the store or brands, and your preferred payment option.

Questions from Volunteers:

What should I do to volunteer?

Please fill out the sign up form for volunteers.

I am interested in starting a chapter in my area. What should I do?

Please email teenshelpingseniors@gmail.com and we will get back to you with internal resources to help you do so.

Miscellaneous Questions:

How can I donate to your organization?

We are a volunteer group effort composed of teens and adults. Thus, we cannot take donations or gratuity. However, if you would like to donate to help the situation, we would encourage making one out to any foundation tackling pandemics. One such example is the CDC Foundation. Alternatively, if you include a donation in your payment, we will forward it to a pandemic-research/treatment non-profit.

I am not a senior but have a compromised immune system. Can you deliver to me?

Absolutely! We are willing to help out anyone who is vulnerable to the virus!

I am not a teenager but want to volunteer. Will you accept me?

Of course! We need as many volunteers as we can get. Now is not the time to turn anyone down.

I am neither a senior, nor do I have a compromised immune system. Can you deliver to me?

While we appreciate the request, please note that the service is focused on helping the vulnerable populations and is severely backlogged. We would request that you please use for-profit services that can deliver your groceries to you.
