I see them everywhere

For the clerk it's 30 seconds

For my father its 30 years

For my college friends its 2 months

Sometimes we add time

But most of the time we don't

Sometimes we promise to add time

But most of the time we don't

Most clocks never change

The few that get extra time are lucky

But most clocks are about right

They ring when it's time to move

I hate the clocks

But I need them

Otherwise I forget 

What time it is
