The Prometric Exam format
It is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 70 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have two hours to complete the exam.
Types
Candidates can sit for the Nursing Technician or Nursing Technician exams, each has a different pass rate. The exam consists of the following sections:
For Nurse Technicians:
Nursing Fundamentals – 28%
Medical – 23%
Surgical – 20%
Pediatric – 16%
Community – 13%
For Nurse Specialists:
Assessment – 10%
Nursing Problem – 6%
Planning – 20%
Implementation – 50%
Evaluation – 14%
A passing rate of 45% should be acquired by nurse technicians and a passing rate of 50% for nurse specialists. Unlike any other examinations, this computer-based exam will readily reveal the results in a form of a Score Report immediately after the exam, indicating your score and whether you have passed or failed the exam.
Qatar Prometric
To work as a Registered Nurse in Qatar, you will have to take the Qatar Prometric exam (QCHP Exam), which is conducted by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners. ( This is a 3-hour-long computer-based Prometric test that has 150 multiple-choice questions. To pass the Qatar Prometric for Nurses, you will need to secure at least 50% marks.
Oman Prometric
The Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) is the statutory body responsible for licensing healthcare professionals in the Sultanate of Oman. The Prometric test conducted by the OMSB is used by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other public or private institutions.
Results Unlike all other tests, this computer-based test will easily display the results in the score report immediately after the test, showing your score and whether you passed or failed.
Exam fee
Before registering, you need to know when this exam is due - Exam fee. Registration can be done via online registration or by email. Your registration type determines which payment method you will use.
Major credit card companies such as MasterCard, Visa and America Express only accept online registration. Meanwhile, mail applicants must also pay using the form provided and pay by check.
Recent reports indicate that registrants in Saudi Arabia must pay an examination fee of $80.00. However, Asians will have to pay $90. Nurses from Africa, Europe, North America and the Middle East must pay $100.
Although payment methods and requirements vary for each test program, in all cases the full amount must be paid before the test date. You can print your receipt at the end of your payment transaction as part of the online registration and scheduling process.
Registration Procedure
To apply for the Prometric exam for Saudi nurses, follow the step-by-step guide below:
1.Visit the website: https://www.prometric.com
2.Search for a candidate and select the Professional, Government, and Corporate drop-down lists. Here, scroll down and click on Saudi Council for Health Professions.
3. A new window will appear showing information about the Saudi Board of Health Professional Examinations and some related articles about the organization itself. Check the "Start" box and click "Start".
4. Select Saudi Commission for Health Professions (not eligible), then select your country of residence and click Next. All other options are only available to residents of Saudi Arabia.
5. A new window will appear. Select Schedule a test and click Next.
6. Select "I accept the policy statement" and click Next.
7. A new window will appear. Under the exam panel you can see two options for nurses: nurse specialist and nurse technician. You must have more than three (3) years of work experience as a nurse to qualify, and as a nurse you must have at least two (2) years of work experience. Other recruiting agencies and the Saudi Recruitment Office (SRO) often require candidates to pass the nurse technician exam, regardless of their experience.
8. Select the desired test center. Enter a location and click the search button.
9. Click Schedule Exam. Here, candidates can select their preferred test month, date and time.
10. You will be taken to a new window where you will need to enter additional information. Personal information such as name, address, date of birth, email address and valid public identification such as People's Republic of China identification is required.
11. You will be directed to another payment window. Here, you will be prompted to enter the required information under Payment Information. To pay, you must have a credit card. If you don't have any, you can borrow money from family or friends. Major credit card companies such as American Express, Mastercard and Visa are generally accepted.
12. Enter your card number and security code to complete the payment process. Enter the credit card owner's name and expiration date. Review the details you entered and click Next. The survey fee is usually $90, but is always subject to change. Although payment methods and requirements vary by test program, in all cases, you must pay in full prior to the test date.
13. When your information is complete and correct, click Finish Registration. Be sure to print the agreement summary or save it as a PDF file to print later. If the appointment confirmation is already available, please check and print your email. This will serve as proof of payment and will be required after graduation.
Test Center Regulations
Just like with licensure exams, there are rules and regulations you need to know and follow. Here are some:
Candidates are required to be professional, civil and respectful at all times while on the premises of the test center.
All exams are continuously monitored by video and audio recording, physical walk-throughs, and through the observation window.
The Test Center Administrator (TCA) is authorized to dismiss you from the test session for a violation of any of the Test Center Regulations, including exhibiting abusive behavior towards the TCAs or other candidates.
If you are found to have violated any of the regulations during your exam, the TCA is required to notify Prometric and your test sponsor.
Prometric, alone or in conjunction with your test sponsor, shall then take any further action necessary to sanction your conduct, up to and including invalidation of your test score and/or pursuit of civil or criminal charges.
Cancelling and Rescheduling
Several test appointments can be cancelled and/or rescheduled. You can easily do this by clicking on the button on the Prometric.com homepage for what you’d like to do. Then, simply follow the step by step instructions. The fee to reschedule an exam and the amount of time to do so without penalty varies on the testing organization. Make sure to check the procedures specific to the organization for more information regarding rescheduling timeliness and penalties.
