VFIS Green is a gardening STEM project. This project is a long-term project to renovate our school garden (VFIS) and raise awareness about environmental issues. It is run by our class with some help from the school.
P/s: This is the project that I did while I was still studying at VFIS, but I want to include it in the journal because I have a lot of good memories and experiences, and also it is a meaningful project. This has nothing to do with CAS.
At first, I was hesitant to participate in the project because I didn't know anything about gardening. However, with encouragement from my classmates, I decided to give it a try. I learned a lot from this experience, not only about gardening and environmental issues but also about teamwork, event organizing, public speaking, and more. Our project includes a lot of fun activities and school events: Santa Wishes - a play (Winter festival), selling soapberry soap and dishwashing liquid (Tet fair), exchanging batteries and eggshells (Earth Day), planting workshops (Earth Day), and making Green Day video about 24 hours and 24 actions to save the earth (Earth Day), collecting use paper and book that student and teacher don’t use anymore and exchange it to an environment group in our city for some plant (Before the last week of school). At the end of this school year, our VFIS Green group received an innovation award from the school. This school year has been a year of personal growth for me, I have learned to step out of my comfort zone and see failure as an opportunity to learn.
