Rock climbing is an activity or sport that I want to try, so I will participate in a one-day rock climbing session. My goal is to experience a new sport, learn basic climbing techniques, and have fun. Through this experience, I aim to step out of my comfort zone, overcome my fear of heights, and learn to approach problem-solving in real-life situations with a calm and resilient mind.
I chose to participate in a one-day session of rock climbing because I want to challenge myself by trying a completely new and different sport that I have only seen and never tried before. I was both excited and nervous at the same time, especially with my fear of heights. My goal for this experience was to learn basic climbing techniques, have fun, and most importantly, step out of my comfort zone.
During the session, I learn how to put on the harness and put on the auto belay. The first few climbs were challenging, especially when I reached higher points on the wall. One of the biggest challenges I faced was dealing with my fear of heights, about halfway up the wall. I started feeling anxious, but I kept going and did not look down when it was time to jump down. I looked down, and it was very high. I didn’t want to jump down, so I started to climb down a bit, but then my friend encouraged me, so I decided to just close my eyes and jump down. It was not as scary as I expected, and it was kind of fun, too. One of the lessons that I learned is the importance of staying calm in these challenging situations. I also realized that climbing a wall is like solving puzzles; sometimes you need to stop and think about where you should put your feet or hands.
By the end of this session, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Although I haven’t really fully overcome my fear of heights, I was very proud of myself for how I managed it. Rock climbing has shown me that I have to face my fear and push myself beyond my limits. I also think that learning something new can be fun and rewarding. I would definitely like to try rock climbing again in the future.
