I am participating in the AI Ethics competition, which is a competition offered by IE University, where I take part as a role of Chief Ethics Officer at a fictional company called InnoAI Solutions. In this competition, I will create an original AI product and evaluate its potential ethical risks, such as privacy, bias, and fairness. I will write a two-page ethical impact analysis and produce a five-minute video presentation summarizing my findings. This project allows me to explore the real-world implications of AI, deepen my understanding of responsible innovations, and communicate complex ideas effectively. My goal is to enhance my critical thinking skills and ethical reasoning by analyzing the social impact of AI.
1st
I originally signed up for this competition, very randomly, without much planning or expectation. I just thought the topic sounded interesting and wanted to try.
For the competition, I designed an AI-powered educational robot called Azura. The robot helps students learn by scanning their work, giving explanations, and providing personalized practice through the app. I developed the concept, wrote a report addressing the ethical risks, and created a video to showcase my ideas.
One of the biggest challenges was to keep the report to a two-page limit. I had so many ideas for how the robot could work and what features it could have, but I had to learn to prioritize and communicate only the most essential parts.
This experience made me more confident about pursuing AI as a career and reminded me that innovation should always come with responsibility.
2nd
After completing the AI Ethics Competition, I was incredibly surprised and honored to be selected as one of the Top 3 finalists. Even more unexpectedly, I received 2nd place internationally, which feels unreal to me.
At first, I joined the competition randomly, with no expectation at all, just curiosity. However, being placed second helped me realize that the effort I put into research, writing, and thinking critically about the ethics of AI was truly worth it. This has made me feel more confident in my abilities and shown me that my interest in AI and robotics can lead to real impact and recognition.
