Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how TechBio ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the TechBio mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect We collect the following types of information: • Account Information: Name, email address, and role/designation you provide during registration. • Lab Data: Experiment protocols, notes, equipment records, shopping lists, and other data you enter into the App. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your account. • Usage Data: If you opt in to crash reporting, we collect anonymous crash logs and basic usage statistics to improve the App. • Device Information: Device type and operating system version for compatibility purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information We use the collected information to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features • Sync your data across devices when you sign in • Send important notifications about your account or the App • Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs (when crash reporting is enabled) • Respond to your support requests
3. Data Storage & Security Your experiment data, protocols, and notes are primarily stored locally on your device. If you create an account, some data may be stored on our secure servers to enable syncing. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following cases: • With your consent • To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests • To protect the rights, safety, or property of TechBio, our users, or the public • With service providers who assist us in operating the App (e.g., cloud hosting), under strict confidentiality agreements
5. Third-Party Services The App may use third-party services for authentication (such as Google Sign-In) and cloud storage. These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
6. Your Rights You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you • Correct any inaccurate information in your account • Delete your account and all associated data at any time through the App's settings • Opt out of crash reporting at any time in Privacy & Security settings • Export your experiment data from the App
7. Data Retention We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it. Anonymous, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytics purposes.
8. Children's Privacy The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
