Just like stepping into the Dark World for the first time in "A Link to the Past" or emerging from the Temple of Time seven years later in "Ocarina of Time", the first time you drop from the sky to the surface, you can tell things are going to be darker and more challenging. After completing a veritable gauntlet of a tutorial, Link arrives in Hyrule weak, disoriented, and uncertain of what to do next, not unlike the denizens of the kingdom itself. The following journey is spent working with them to find the strength and knowledge to save the kingdom yet again and find their missing princess on what has truly been my favorite Zelda adventure yet. More so than any past Zelda game though, this one's focus on a sense of community and companionship in the face of adversity feels so wonderfully wholesome I can't help but fall in love.

This game is one of the single most disappointing games I have ever experienced and I feel like I'm going insane seeing 10/10 reviews everywhere. I'll start off with my favourite element of video games, exploration... its terrible in tears of the kingdom. The re-used map is the most glaring of these issues, yes, the locations from the previous games have been changed but not to the degree I would have hoped and the changes made are reversed which just make the map more similar similar breath of the wild and less interesting. This game has been in development for six years and the fact that the map is this similar is appalling in my opinion, especially considering the main draw of zelda games, to me at least, is the exploration.

The kingdom of Hyrule has a long, long history. So long, in fact, that the events that occurred leading up to its founding and in its early years have faded into myth. Hyrule's recurring periods of prosperity and decline have made it impossible to tell which legends are historical fact and which are mere fairy tale. - Creating a Champion, pg. 360.

My favorite answer is here, for all the evidence I'll give below. This hypothesis considers that the Imprisonment War is old enough to be part of the era of legends, but not old enough to happen between any other games. At the end of whatever branch BOTW is in, and of course, before BOTW and all the calamities it mentions. It comes of course with an issue : we have to assume the kingdom of Hyrule fell, and was founded again, still under the name of Hyrule in honor of the Goddess Hylia, Goddesss worshipped both by the Hylians and by the Zonai who descended on this land.

First, all the problems we have with the different species disappear, or rather, we just have to refer to the explanations we had to bring up in order to explain why they were here in BOTW. Regardless of the branch of the timeline, enough time could have passed to justify the presence of the Zora and the Rito. Sure, I still find it odd that the Hylians would have evolved in this way (especially since they look like the Hylians we have always known in BOTW) during this time period, but it's not worse than the previous solution. The Zonai could have appeared during the immense period of time separating SS from these events, and they may even have evolved from the Oocaa, ancient sky people seen in TP, who are said to be close to the Gods and have weird tech. Sonia, as the first queen of the new Hyrule, would not be named Zelda, the tradition has been forgotten, but a new one emerges because of current Zelda's travel through time. The passage of time explains why the purpose and nature of the Triforce was lost. Where is it ? Is it already understood as a sealing power ? Is it still dormant in someone ? We don't know, since it isn't brought up. However, the arfifacts left by the gods to the Zonai (or maybe to their ancestors) are coveted when this divine people descends on this land where there is no longer a kingdom.

The pointed ears of the Gerudo are no longer a problem. And, it is because of the Gerudo, that we can confirm the placement of these events on the timeline. Legends say that Ganon was born into this kingdom, and then transformed into Malice. In BOTW, Calamity Ganon forms a cocoon and tries to reincarnate, because of its lack of physical form. It is only a manifestation of hatred and malice. The Calamity is born, and didn't appear before during the other Zelda games because it's a being that appears after this Ganondorf is sealed, and this Ganondorf wasn't born and sealed during those games. His hatred manifests into this monstrous being.

I liked BOTW's music even if it was ambient. However, I was wondering if tears of the kingdom had a similar approach to its soundtrack. The main theme and the trailer theme had the saxophone as a prominent instrument. Is it as prominent in the soundtrack as the piano was in the first game? Are there a lot of tracks that would fit in a traditional zelda game? Which game ost do you prefer if you have played it.

Unlike BOTW you can't reconcile the events of Tears with the established timeline. At the end of Skyward Sword it was Link and Zelda that remain on the surface and establish the kingdom of Hyrule. Tears on the other hand rewrites this whole game. Now it's Rauru who acts like the Hylia in Skyward Sword to protect the various tribes and instead of being an evil god Demon King you just have Ganondorf but he upgrades himself into the Demon King. It's like if you moved the ending of Skyward Sword into the opening exposition and then carried on with that game's story.

So we are very close to tears of the kingdom release date. And in order to be prepared I managed to 100% botw and 100% Skyward sword. One for principal and I heard that skyward sword may likley to connect with story in TOTK.

I saw a comment mention this in the Zelink subreddit, with how they could see Link and Zelda having romantic hints, while their friend couldn't. And it's the case with BOTW. While people have completed BOTW, not everyone has done the DLC.

After 2 full playthroughs of Tears of the Kingdom, i have listed a very linear order for which the player is able to complete Tears of the kingdom and recieve a linear narrative adventure that is more reminiscent of older zelda games. Now, you may say "oh, but the game is open air! It's not designed that way!". Bollocks. The game not only has a recommended dungeon order, but it has an NPC that will tell you the order to follow as you complete the story missions. The only ones it DOESN'T say to do in an order, is the 3rd and 4th. But the memories near those regions line up with the order presented, so just follow the order. It makes missions so much easier for actually unlocking things. I will not be telling you to do towers, specific shrines, or any other content you see fit. I am giving you a linear path to follow and annorder to consume the narrative in which would be oh so pleasing. If you don't like that, feel free to ignore this path entirely, and non-linear the game to your hearts content i won't stop you. This is more.for those who want a structured narrative.

Is it ripping/tears or crying/tears or wordplay for both? Speculation has been raised about the word being ripping/tears. They could be portals to another world, connections between different times, or even the islands being torn from the ground.

I love speculation about the new game. Why is the master sword just green lines at the bottom in the logo? What is that big pokemon on the wall--wait, you're telling me it's an owl??? But I feel the word has to be crying tears for a few reasons.

Beyond that, it's just not great English. You could say they're trying to hide the wordplay, but the word "of" if off for ripping/tears. What would they use if it was a play on words? Tearing Kingdom or Kingdom of Tears aren't right either? Kingdome Tears or maybe Tears in the Kingdom? Nintendo tries so hard to not have stereotypically bad English.

The UK direct not being live streamed is a strong indicator to me that it's surely crying tears. There were rumors the Direct would be delayed because the Queen died. Many felt this was completely unnecessary. But I see it now. The mural shows a dead Zelda, and the game is called Tears of the Kingdom!

This neighboring Kingdom is under rule of the Yiga, taking over the monarch and Master Kohga now being referred to ask "King Kohga." There are many traditional Zelda cities with their own spin on that land's culture taken over by The Yiga. In this world, even the towns are a dangerous place to be, as the Yiga had taken over the kingdom.

Something has happened to hyrule and has caused it to randomly shift in time. Pieces start to fly towards the sky as they did in skyward sword, some parts will flood, and temples that were destroyed long ago reappear. These rifts in time are the tears

Now, as a 24 year old who's been struggling to pay bills and rent but always managing to scrape by, I bought tears of the kingdom as a way to reward myself. But no matter how much I play I can't get engaged like I did with botw. Not because I think the game isnt good, it's phenomenal, but because my mind isn't suited to deal with this king of thing anymore.

After dealing with so much, playing tears of the kingdom is actually kind of overwhelming. It seems like everywhere I go there's a new quest to do, do I do this quest, or that quest, if I go to this place do I miss out on something spectacular by not going to this other place? If I focus on exploration rather than the main story am I wasting my time? This sucks so bad. ff782bc1db
