Getting Everything Ready
Getting Everything Ready
I have had a busy few days here in Fairbanks!
SATURDAYI did a little shopping and prepping of stuff to ship over to Nulato before I went exploring.
I visited a spot on the river. It was a cute little park that is tucked into the back of a neighborhood!
Then I checked out Pioneer Park. Its super adorable place to visit. All the cabins that are used there are original Fairbanks and area cabins.
SUNDAY I had a ticket to go on the Gold Dredge 8 tour. It starts from a point on the Alaskan Pipeline. Our super cool tour guide helped build it back in the late 1970s!! The tour was pretty cool, but not exactly what I expected. I did pan for gold and got $20 worth!
I also went thrifting at Blue Door Antiques. They have some AMAZING things! I picked up a crocheted throw blanket there!
MONDAY and TUESDAY have been great as well. I went to The Museum of the North, located on the Fairbanks campus of the University of Alaska! They have some REALLY cool things going on there. They even have their OWN rocket program!
I also visited the Morris Thompson Cultural Center. Here they have all the information you could need. There is also a public land management office for you wo find out about public use cabins and where it is safe for you to go. This is important if you want to explore Alaska on your own because there are a few native tribes that are not so friendly to outsiders.
I made a quick pit stop in North Pole Alaska, even visiting the Santa House! I know.... it was intense... ha ha.
I also took some freight over to the airport and paid for my ATV to be shipped. $1800 late, I hope they are in Nulato when I get there Saturday!
I'll try to get pictures uploaded soon. Most of the internet here is satellite and its speed can vary greatly!
