If you use Google Classroom, you can post a poll question through the classwork tab.
You can see who has responded in what way.
You can decide if you want students to respond to a multiple choice question, or provide a short answer.
You can also provide a snippet of content or a prompt for student thinking by adding a document, link, file or YouTube clip.
Questions might include:
A question about a key idea or concept covered in the lesson.
A question about readiness to move on to the next topic.
A question about how well they are progressing through the success criteria.
A question about what they have done well, or need more support with.
The beauty of this tool, is that you can use it as an exit strategy, or as a universal response feedback tool during a lesson to get an idea about where students are at with their understanding.
It is quick and can provide targeted feedback about student understanding in real time. You can even create them with students during a lesson if you realise you need to know something about their thinking.
You can use a Google Poll as a Universal response strategy, or as an exit pass.
A poll asks a single question, you might develop:
A question about a key idea or concept covered in the lesson.
A question about readiness to move on to the next topic.
A question about how well they are progressing through the success criteria.
A question about what they have done well, or need more support with.
I used to think... now I think... : Get students to reflect on what they used to think, and what they know after the learning in the lesson.
50 word summary: Get students to summarise what the purpose of the lesson was, and what they learned in 50 words, or less.
2 minute brain dump: Use the learning intention, or a key word in the topic or lesson and get students to write or draw what comes to mind - yes, this can get a bit silly sometimes, but that can be part of the fun, and a nice way to wrap up a serious lesson...
