Exit passes are an opportunity to share some feedback about where they are at by the end of a lesson and what they would like more support with.
'Gots' and 'Needs': Okay so the grammar on this isn't great, but the idea is! Invite students to share what they got out of a lesson and what they still need - this can be done using post it notes and creating two locations in the classroom for what they 'got' and what they 'need'. Students add their post it notes - using their name can be optional - sometimes they appreciate the anonymity, sometimes they want you to know their contribution.
Setting up a Google Quiz: Include two or three key questions that link to the Learning Intention and Success Criteria can give you a good read of what students are understanding, or able to do, and what they need more support with.
I used to think... now I think... : Get students to reflect on what they used to think, and what they know after the learning in the lesson.
50 word summary: Get students to summarise what the purpose of the lesson was, and what they learned in 50 words, or less.
2 minute brain dump: Use the learning intention, or a key word in the topic or lesson and get students to write or draw what comes to mind - yes, this can get a bit silly sometimes, but that can be part of the fun, and a nice way to wrap up a serious lesson...
The trick is to keep it simple, focus on the main points of the learning that you want students to have achieved, and that will help them progress to the next cycle of learning. You can ask students to reflect on the Learning Intention, or the Success Criteria, and invite them to share what they might have learned outside of this...
