⚠️ Petition for Special Tribal Council Meeting

Let’s Make Tribal Council Meetings Accessible to ALL Cheyenne & Arapaho Members!

Did you know:
➡️ 4,500 Tribal members live in-district
➡️ 4,000 live in Oklahoma but outside the district
➡️ 3,400 live outside Oklahoma—including England, Germany, Guam, Canada, Mexico, and Ireland!

Many of our relatives face barriers to attending Tribal Council meetings—whether it’s distance, mobility issues, or even scheduling conflicts (like the OU/Texas game falling on the same day as the meeting 👀).

We’re proposing a solution:
Allow verified Tribal members to attend, participate, and vote remotely in Tribal Council meetings—no matter where they live!

Here’s why it matters:
• The Constitution doesn’t require in-person attendance to vote
• Other Tribes (Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, Pala Band of Mission Indians, Tuolumne Me-Wuk) have successfully used remote voting
• This system uses secure verification with enrollment numbers to ensure 1 member = 1 vote
• Remote members can watch the meeting live & vote in real time—just like being there!
• If someone registers for remote voting but ends up attending in person, they’ll be switched to in-person voting at check-in

Estimated savings: $14,000 from gas card reimbursements—and an overall savings of about $7,000

We’re recommending partnering with Option Technologies, the same vendor we’ve used since 2022 for in-person keypad voting. Their system integrates remote and in-person voting seamlessly.

We’re proposing a Special Tribal Council Meeting in August 2025 to demonstrate the security of this system and let Tribal members test it themselves!
