If you want a rugged, fully waterproof device that doubles as a portable music player for swimming and underwater workouts, choose Tayogo Swimming Headphones; if you need a lightweight, safety-focused headset with an integrated LED light for night running and high awareness of your surroundings, choose Potewek Bone Conduction Open.
• Tayogo Swimming Headphones: The standout strength is its IPX8 waterproof rating and massive 32GB internal storage, making it the only true choice for underwater audio; the trade-off is that Bluetooth does not function while submerged, requiring manual mode switching.
• Potewek Bone Conduction Open: Its biggest advantage is the built-in LED safety light and advanced Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity for seamless calls and music on land; however, it lacks full submersion capability and offers less battery longevity compared to the Tayogo model.
• Who this is for: The Tayogo is essential for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts who need a dedicated MP3 player, while the Potewek is ideal for runners and cyclists prioritizing visibility and situational awareness.
The Tayogo Swimming Headphones are engineered specifically for those who refuse to let water dictate their music experience. This isn't just a pair of earbuds that can handle a splash; it is a robust piece of gear designed to be worn under a swimming cap, goggles, and even earplugs without compromising comfort. The IPX8 waterproof rating means these headphones are completely sealed against water, sweat, rain, and dust. Whether you are doing laps in a pool, snorkeling in the ocean, or fishing from a boat, the silicone enclosure ensures the electronics remain safe and functional. If your primary goal involves getting wet, deeply wet, or going underwater, this is the only logical path forward.
What truly sets this unit apart is the integration of a 32GB MP3 player directly into the bone conduction design. You do not need to carry your phone into the pool to listen to your favorite tracks. The internal memory can hold up to 6,000 songs across various formats like MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, and FLAC. This makes it an exceptional solution for a wireless in ear earbuds for work from home scenario where you might need to step away from your desk for a swim break without losing your audio content. The device supports Bluetooth 5.4 for use on land, offering a stable connection up to 33 feet (10 meters), but once you hit the water, you simply double-click the power button to switch to MP3 mode. This duality allows you to transition seamlessly from a bike ride on dry land to a dive in the deep end.

However, there are specific scenarios where you should skip this product. If you are looking for a single device to handle all your audio needs without ever switching modes or managing separate playback methods, the requirement to toggle between Bluetooth and MP3 might feel cumbersome. Additionally, because the focus is heavily on underwater performance and durability, the bass response is tuned differently than standard closed-back earbuds. If you prioritize deep, thumping bass over clarity and situational awareness in a gym setting, you might find the sound profile too open. But for anyone needing a rechargeable headphones for work from home routine that includes aquatic activities, the Tayogo offers a level of protection and convenience that other headsets simply cannot match.
The Potewek Bone Conduction Open is built for the active individual who spends most of their time outdoors in varying light conditions. Its defining feature is the built-in LED safety light, which serves a critical purpose for early morning jogs or evening training sessions. In low-light environments, being seen is just as important as hearing your music, and this small addition significantly boosts personal security. The design leverages bone conduction technology to keep your ears open, allowing you to hear traffic, pedestrians, and nature while still enjoying your playlist. This makes it a superior choice for road runners, cyclists, and hikers who need to maintain full auditory awareness of their environment.
Under the hood, this headset utilizes Bluetooth 6.0, which represents a significant leap in connectivity stability and efficiency compared to older generations. The omnidirectional microphone ensures that hands-free calls remain clear even while you are moving at speed. The 13mm dynamic drivers provide a fuller sound profile with enhanced bass, addressing one of the common complaints about bone conduction audio. Despite the larger drivers, the device remains lightweight and secure, thanks to its ergonomic fit and materials like Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) and silicone. It is also IP54 sweat-resistant, meaning it can handle intense gym sessions and light splashes without issue. This makes it a versatile tool for the daily commuter or the weekend warrior who needs a reliable companion for outdoor exercise.
That said, the Potewek has limitations when it comes to water immersion. With an IP54 rating, it is resistant to sweat and light splashes, but it is not designed to be submerged in water. If your workout plan involves diving or extended swimming, this device will not survive. Furthermore, while the battery life is solid at up to 10 hours of playback, it falls short of the Tayogo's capacity. The trade-off here is clear: you gain superior safety features and modern connectivity, but you lose the ability to take your music into the pool. It is the perfect headset for work from home professionals who need a break for a run before returning to their desk, provided they aren't planning a post-work swim.
• Best for underwater use → Tayogo Swimming Headphones: Only the Tayogo is rated IPX8 and capable of functioning safely while submerged, whereas the Potewek is strictly for sweat and light rain.
• Best for battery endurance → Tayogo Swimming Headphones: With a 300mAh battery delivering up to 15 hours of playtime, the Tayogo outlasts the Potewek's 10-hour average life.
• Best for night safety → Potewek Bone Conduction Open: The integrated LED safety light on the Potewek provides a crucial visibility advantage that the Tayogo lacks entirely.
• Best for standalone music playback → Tayogo Swimming Headphones: The built-in 32GB storage allows you to leave your phone behind during swims, a feature the Potewek does not offer.
• Best for call clarity and connectivity → Potewek Bone Conduction Open: The Bluetooth 6.0 version and omnidirectional mic offer a more modern connection standard than the Tayogo's Bluetooth 5.4.
• Best for bass richness → Potewek Bone Conduction Open: The 13mm drivers on the Potewek are explicitly designed for fuller sound and enhanced bass compared to the standard driver setup on the Tayogo.
• Best for multi-sport versatility → Tayogo Swimming Headphones: One device handles swimming, running, cycling, and snorkeling, while the Potewek is limited to land-based activities.
• Best value for water athletes → Tayogo Swimming Headphones: If you swim regularly, the specialized waterproofing and internal storage make the Tayogo the only viable option.
I would personally buy the Tayogo Swimming Headphones if my lifestyle included any form of aquatic activity, because the ability to swim with music and leave my phone on the deck is a game-changer. However, for a pure headset for work from home user who runs outdoors but never swims, the Potewek Bone Conduction Open is the smarter daily driver due to its safety light and newer Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity. If I had to pick one for a general "work from home" routine that includes a mix of desk work and outdoor exercise, I'd lean toward the Potewek for its superior call quality and safety features, but I know many readers need the specific utility of the Tayogo. Ultimately, the choice hinges on whether your next workout takes place in the pool or on the pavement.
Yes, the Tayogo Swimming Headphones are IPX8 waterproof and fully submersible, making them safe for swimming and showering. The Potewek Bone Conduction Open is only IP54 sweat-resistant and should not be submerged in water.
Both models offer substantial battery life, with the Tayogo providing up to 15 hours and the Potewek up to 10 hours. This is sufficient for a full day of listening, though the Tayogo edges out the competition for marathon sessions.
The Potewek features 13mm drivers and Bluetooth 6.0, which generally delivers richer bass and clearer audio on land. The Tayogo focuses on underwater clarity and uses bone conduction, which may feel different but is optimized for its specific environment.
Both devices support hands-free calling via Bluetooth. The Potewek includes an omnidirectional microphone optimized for outdoor noise, while the Tayogo supports calls via its Bluetooth 5.4 connection, though both require you to be out of the water for the Tayogo to answer calls.
