I am thrilled to have the opportunity to design another T-shirt for a musical artist through Oditi. This project was especially enjoyable, as it allowed me to explore and draw inspiration from Sammy Virji's distinctive artistic style and his eclectic discography. Virji’s bold and vibrant posters were a key influence, and I sought to capture that same energy through the design. I incorporated striking typefaces that complement the artist's visual aesthetic while also evoking a sense of excitement and movement. The infusion of elements that represent New York’s vibrant urban culture—such as graffiti-like textures and energetic shapes —helped ground the design in a sense of place and identity, giving it a dynamic, city-inspired feel.
The design features an innovative overlapping sticker motif, which serves to separate the event details in an engaging way while adding a modern and youthful twist. This motif not only serves a functional purpose but also contributes to the design's overall sense of depth and playfulness. What I particularly love about this T-shirt design is its versatility; it works seamlessly in both black and white editions, making it adaptable to a wide range of color schemes and preferences. Whether printed on a dark or light-colored shirt, the design remains bold and eye-catching, ensuring its broad appeal to fans of the artist. This thoughtful approach to design and its adaptability to different shirt colors make it an exciting piece that fans will want to wear time and again. I sadly didn't win the competition but this was a great way to practice my skills as a graphic designer and play around with a new style concept.
