I have always had a natural affinity for understanding consumer technology and problem solving, with an empathic focus on how technology affects the person using it. Design piqued my interest when I attended Savannah College of Art & Design, and I decided to return to it after a short but successful career in television.
The psychology and user advocacy elements of User Experience Design were immensely fascinating and important to me. I felt as if a world had opened, where the tiny inconveniences and design flaws of daily life were surmountable and solvable.
Moving forward, I’d like to implement this newfound gift of seeing the world as a series of design challenges. I hope to discover like-minded people and organizations, advocate for user research and execute it, ideate design solutions, and write clear copy that achieves the goals of the project while being fair and engaging to users.
I plan to use the contacts I’ve made to strengthen the network of designers in my city. I believe we can build a community of doers that see the challenges of our world and get excited for the opportunity to overcome them.
I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to my own UX Research, I also exercise, write fiction, experiment with immersive video, and explore the city. My personal writing can be found at thesieveandthesand.net.
