I am a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Duke University working mainly on ethics, with interests in political philosophy, philosophy of language, and hermeneutics.
My research focuses on how our situated perspectives and the language we use shape our interpretations of ethical and political issues. I am particularly interested in how such differences reflect on our disagreements and what this might teach us about how to engage in ethical dialogue more constructively, which is the main focus of my dissertation. More broadly, my research and teaching explore the intersection of literature and ethics, with particular emphasis on the concepts of narrative, identity, and community.
I am a graduate of the Robert College of Istanbul (RC '16) and received my BA in Philosophy and Linguistics (PPL) from the University of Oxford in 2019.
Outside of philosophy I enjoy cycling, reading history, popping corn for friends, and (much like Hume) a good game of backgammon.
