Taxi is an American sitcom that originally aired on ABC from September 12, 1978, to May 6, 1982, and on NBC from September 30, 1982, to June 15, 1983. The series won 18 Emmy Awards, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series. It focuses on the everyday lives of a handful of New York City taxi drivers and their abusive dispatcher. Taxi was produced by the John Charles Walters Company, in association with Paramount Network Television, and was created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis, and Ed. Weinberger, all of whom have been brought on board from working on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

For most of the run of the show, the ensemble cast consisted of taxi drivers Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch), Bobby Wheeler (Jeff Conaway), Elaine Nardo (Marilu Henner), Tony Banta (Tony Danza), and "Reverend" Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd), along with their dispatcher Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito) and mechanic Latka Gravas (Andy Kaufman).

Uniformed taxicab dispatchers are available to help passengers with any questions and to assist passengers with disabilities in selecting a wheelchair accessible taxicab. If a wheelchair accessible taxicab is not available within the dispatch system, an accessible taxicab will be requested. You can buy scrip either by mail or in person at Metro's Customer Services Office in the King Street Center building. Most taxi companies accept taxi scrip, but you should always check when you call to request a cab. At the end of your taxi trip, you pay the driver the meter fare using taxi scrip instead of money. You do not need to use the scrip the same month you buy it; however, please note that unused scrip cannot be returned for a refund.

The City of Laguna Hills' Senior Dial-A-Taxi Program is funded by OCTA (SMP and M2 Funds) and is designed to provide door-to-door taxi service to eligible Laguna Hills residents. The current cab operator is California Yellow Cab. Service is provided within Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods and Mission Viejo city limits ("Service Area") for shopping, recreational/social activities, personal business, and standard medical appointments. Not to be confused with some other self-called "Taxi Boats" where there are several different passenger hopping on and cruising trough a fixed route, where ferry tagging more suitable is.

The 2023 permitting application fee will cost $250 and will allow that taxi provider to stage in an authorized location that passengers will be directed to when they arrive and are looking for available taxis.

Taxicabs provide essential transportation services and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released detailed recommendations to keep the industry moving safely. Implementation of these recommendations by the taxi industry and passengers will assist in efforts to reduce the spread COVID-19.

All licensed taxicabs operate on a meter system, providing a safe, comfortable, efficient and affordable experience. These well-equipped vehicles are operated by qualified individuals who have knowledge of the county's streets and strive to provide excellent customer service.

A taxi driver, who does not own the taxi, is generally considered an employee. However, workers' compensation is not required if the taxi driver leases the taxi from a person who personally and regularly operates the taxi (40 or more hours per week), the taxi driver is not an employee of the taxi owner unless the taxi owner controls the taxi driver (directs, supervises, or has the power to hire or fire).

Most kayakers planning their own trip access the park via a water taxi or charter boat from Seward and get dropped off in Aialik Bay, Northwestern Lagoon or Bear Glacier Lagoon. Most water taxi operators can also assist in the drop off/pick up aspects of trip planning. While most commercial entities operating in the park are required to have a commercial use authorization (CUA), many water taxi services actually operate outside of park boundaries (i.e. below the mean high-tide line), so are not required to have a CUA.

This program provides discounted taxicab fares to qualified individuals, age 60 and older, and persons of any age with a permanent disability through coupon booklets that are accepted by all taxicab companies in Clark County.

The City of River Falls has received State and Federal grant dollars to help fund a shared-ride taxi program. This taxi service is open to anyone and covers the area within the City of River Falls as well as five miles outside the city limits.

In addition to the on demand service available at each terminal, taxis are available on a pre-arranged basis. Please contact the company of your choice to schedule reservations. Pre-arranged vehicles pick-up are located at Terminal A, Stop 3 and Terminal B, Stop 11.

The Suffolk County Taxi & Limousine Commission (SCTLC) strives to achieve two main goals to better protect that system. First, to guard against the dangers posed to residents by unsafe operation of taxicabs, limousines and livery vehicles, and second, to protect the free commerce of for-hire vehicle operators.

The Town regulates taxi fares through a Zone System." This system includes a maximum fare that can be charged, allows taxis to charge $4.00 for passengers above four people, and utilizes an average rate of $3.15 per mile.

Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) offers a taxi voucher program to assist seniors, persons with disabilities, and veterans in accessing important locations within their community. There are three categories of vouchers each with their own eligibility requirementes: seniors, persons with disabilities, and veterans.

1. Once succesfully enrolled in the program, a limited number of vouchers and a customer ID number are issued to the customer. For the vouchers to be valid and accepted by a TACT certified taxi driver, the customer must fill out the voucher completely with their name, customer ID number, and signature (see sample voucher below). Customers are required to pay a $3.00 co-pay with each voucher.

2. The customer may contact one of the participating taxicab companies listed below to schedule a ride. Once the taxicab arrives, the customer must provide the $3.00 co-pay, a voucher and a valid ID. With the voucher and $3.00 co-pay, a customer can travel the equivalent of up to a meter reading of $17.00. Each voucher and the $3.00 co-pay is only valid for a one-way trip. Customers are responsible to pay any cost above the $17.00 meter reading. Taxi sharing is encouraged, with only one taxi voucher required for a shared ride.
