I read some stuff about running tasks remotely and lot other stuff, but I just want to hit a url (which will most likely be opened in a browser) and the task should be run. If there's a way to tap the link and it immediately runs the task without opening the browser it's even better, but the main thing is I just want to run a task.

Currently I have to worked out a way to mimic the event Subscriptions that SharpTools plugin for tasker did. That would allow you to react to events in SmartThings as in a door opening or a light being turned on. From my understanding this would require a dedicated smartapp and currently that is out of my wheel house and beyond my skill set at the moment.

Those are all old, but with the steps in those links and comments on the bottom of the page, I managed to create a task that give me my toekn. But each time I press it, it's a new token. Some year's ago, the token was valid for months, so I'm like at a dead end now. I can't find up to date information

As mentioned a few options here, I will re-think the approach as it looks like it could be done a little differently than my first thoughts. A RM triggered geofence is a simple approach. But ideally I would like to stay with the way it works now which is that it provides the tasker on screen pop-up notification. Perhaps there is a different way to do that. As it is now the notification pops up stating the garage door will be closing and with 1 touch it can be interrupted. But sometimes I miss this and end up opening an already closed door.

For those of you who like me are migrating from Smartthings to HE. I have some devices like my arlo cameras that can't connect to HE directly so I can't ditch ST completely. I also use Sharptools on Android. So to keep tasker and be able to use the sharptools widgets working with HE I'm doing this:

Move your device (in my case this will apply to mostly switches) from ST to HE

Remove the device from ST

Create a virtual device in ST to represent the device in HE

Then in Sharptools.io in the rules engine create two rules, one for on and off

The basic rule is for 'on' is:

Trigger: if the switch in either system turns on.

Flow: If the ST switch is off then turn it on

If the HE switch is off then turn it on

Then create the second rule for off, with the on's and off's inverted.

The reason for the If statement is the prevent endless retriggering. In some cases even though the switch is on already when you send another on command that retriggers the event.

For other device types like motion or presents, you have to get creative You will have to represent those devices as switches on the ST side so the Sharptools.io rule can set it. So the trigger will be your motion or presents but it will set a virtual switch on the ST side.

FolderSync works as Tasker plugin and supports deep links when triggered from other automation apps. This means one or more folderPair syncs can be initiated or cancelled when a condition or rule you configured in automation app occurs.

Opening deep links by copy/pasting directly url to a browser will not work, as this will just attempt to open it as a normal webpage and there is no web server listening for these types of links. The link has to be intercepted directly by the FolderSync app for it to work, using the deep link handling inherent in the Android system - which as mentioned will not work when directly entering the link into a browsers address bar, but it will work if triggered by an automation app like Tasker using Android intents.

Tasker is going to be used to execute a set of API commands automatically from HTTP Request Shortcuts and group them together so we can organize a set of custom API requests into one group and press one button to set them off sequentially. We can also set that group of commands from tasker into a home screen shortcut!

Although I have personally never used it, I suppose you could install an app called Servers Ultimate which would run as a service on your phone, allowing you to turn predefined servers on/off (on the fly) using built-in tasker plugin.

If you want to play the physical .m3u files using tasker, then you do not need the Poweramp Id as these files are effectively independent and you should be able to launch Poweramp with the playlist name (imho). If you want to play playlists located in Poweramp, you have the id showing in my app. I exclude .m3u and smb playlists from displaying

You can execute up to 4 tasks with single button presses and up to 20 more from a task menu. Love all the Tasker* apps - many thanks.I have one request but it may not be possible. I would *really* like for tasker to be able to update the menu items so that they could be geo-relevent. Any idea if this is feasable?

When I click the menu button on my Garmin Edge Explore, I always get a link (e.g. https: // open menu). And the link doesn't work. I want to choose between the music but it doesn't work.Am I doing something wrong?

Another wrinkle to address here is the fact that downloadable Tasker profiles and tasks are formatted as XML files. This means your browser may display a list of code when you tap the link to download the file. If this happens, go back to the page with the download link, then long-press the link and choose "Download link."

Each tasker profile can be setup with entry and exit action. In essence, when a profile becomes true (connected to wifi, for example), perform an action. Then, when disconnected, perform another action. I susepct it would be a trivial exercise to create an isy program to turn up the thermostat, and one tk turn it down. The tasker actions would simply initiate the programs via mobilinc.

And, yes, tasker has pretty good documentation, but there was a definite learning period for me. Mobilinc was pretty intuitive, and I found minimal need for manuals. I should disclose, however, that I really don't use the mobilinc interface much. I rely near exclusively on mobilinc and tasker widgets on my home screen to control my house from phone and tablets.
