Tanveer Hossain Bhuiyan
Dr. Tanveer Hossain Bhuiyan is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Before joining UTSA, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Idaho National Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2021. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Bhuiyan received an M.S. degree in Operations Research with a minor in Statistics from Mississippi State University in 2018. He also worked as a Research Intern at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory.
Dr. Bhuiyan's research methodology is focused on developing data-driven mathematical models and solution algorithms for solving decision-making problems, particularly decision-making under uncertainty and in game-theoretic setting. His research methodology also includes big data analytics utilizing high-performance computing and statistical-learning-based optimization. His research has been applied to the areas of critical infrastructure protection, electrified and sustainable transportation network design, disaster mitigation, supply chain risk mitigation, cyber and information security, wireless network security, and power system expansion and operations planning with renewable energy integration. Dr. Bhuiyan's research has been published in the European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, Energy, International Journal of Critical Infrastructure Protection, and in several IEEE conference proceedings. Dr. Bhuiyan serves as a reviewer for several reputed journals including the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, INFORMS Journal on Applied Analytics, and Omega. He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
