Models development for Carbon Capture Technology using Open-Source Python
Columns are one of the most frequently used equipment in the chemical process industry, water treatment, and power plants. Tray and packed columns are the most used type of columns. These columns serve a variety of purposes, e.g. condition of gases (humidifiers/de-humidifiers), removal of contaminants from gases (CO2, SO2 removal), and most importantly for purification of products using distillation.
Climate change is the current hot topic of discussion and research. CO2 capture technology is essential to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions from emitting sources. Post-combustion CO2 capture technology is really crucial for countries whose power and energy is mainly produced using fossil fuels, especially our country India.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and energetic people with a keen interest in helping the world reduce CO2 emissions.

Task 1: Development of Python-based Packed bed Absorption model for CO2 capture application
· Knowledge of solving partial differential equations is necessary as the governing equations to describe CO2 absorption results in PDEs.
· Basic understanding of numerical methods, mass transfer, chemical reactions, and thermodynamics is required.
· Knowledge of python programming is essential and MATLAB working experience is an added advantage.
Task 2: Design of Plate Heat Exchangers (Python-based) for CO2 capture application
· Knowledge of solving partial differential equations is necessary as the governing equations to describe CO2 absorption results in PDEs.
· Basic understanding of numerical methods, mass and energy balances, and heat transfer are required.
· Knowledge of python programming is essential and MATLAB working experience is an added advantage.
Task 3: Development of Python models for physical properties of solvents used for CO2 capture application
· Basic knowledge of solvents' physical properties like density, viscosity, heat capacity, surface tension is required.
· Knowledge of python programming is essential and MATLAB working experience is an added advantage.
· Knowledge of regression in python is required.
· Basic calculations like conversion of units (e.g., mass to mole basis) will be needed.
