I am a Professor of Economics at IIM Calcutta, on leave during 2025-2026. I did my PhD from Washington University in St. Louis. My academic career started at DIW Berlin, followed by a tenure at IIT Kanpur, before returning to my hometown in Kolkata. My research focuses on gender, education, labor, and health, primarily in the context of developing countries. I hold affiliations with IZA Bonn, CESifo Munich, and GLO. Beyond academia, I enjoy contributing to policy discussions.
