If you want a playful, over-ear headset with visual flair and long battery life for general listening or online classes, choose Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones; if you need an ultra-thin, sweat-proof headband that stays secure during intense activity or allows side sleeping without ear pressure, choose YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones.
• Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones: The biggest strength is its unique aesthetic design with adjustable fit and 11-hour battery life, making it perfect for style-conscious users who want to stand out while listening. The trade-off is the lack of noise isolation and a bulky form factor that may not suit active movement or sleep.
• YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones: Its standout feature is the incredibly thin profile (0.25 inches) and washable fabric construction, ideal for sports, side sleeping, and keeping hair back during workouts. The compromise is that it offers no physical padding or over-ear coverage, which might feel less immersive for casual music lovers.
• Best For: Tangxi fits kids, teens, and adults seeking a fun accessory for school or travel; YY KATTY is built for athletes, side sleepers, and anyone needing hands-free audio without bulk.
The Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones are designed with a distinct personality. They aren't just audio gear; they are a fashion statement featuring cat claw designs and padded headbands available in seven colors. This product targets children over three years old, as well as teens and adult women who love the "cat lover" aesthetic. The adjustable headband ensures a comfortable fit for various head sizes, from babies to adults, making it a versatile choice for home use, online classes, or air travel.
What makes this headset particularly useful is its balance of wireless freedom and wired reliability. It runs on Bluetooth 5.0 technology with a transmission distance of approximately 10 meters, allowing you to move around your room or office without dropping the connection. When the battery does run low, you can simply plug in the included 3.5mm cable for a hardwired connection, ensuring you never miss a beat during streaming or video calls. The built-in microphone handles calls and voice chats effectively, which is crucial for students attending remote lessons or professionals taking conference calls.

However, this product has clear limitations regarding its physical design. Because these are over-ear headphones made of plastic with a decorative structure, they do not offer any active noise cancellation or passive isolation. If you are in a loud environment, you will hear everything around you. Furthermore, the LED lights, while charming, drain the battery faster, reducing playtime to about 7 hours when lit compared to 11 hours in standard mode. This makes them best suited for quiet indoor environments where the visual appeal matters more than soundproofing.
The YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones solve a very specific problem: how to listen to audio without interfering with your physical comfort or safety. With a thickness of just 0.25 inches, this device is engineered to be unobtrusive. It sits flat against the head, meaning you can wear it comfortably while lying on your side to sleep. The center placement of the speaker module prevents the ear pressure that often comes with traditional earbuds or bulky headphones, making it an excellent tool for those suffering from insomnia or needing to meditate in silence.
Durability and hygiene are central to this design. The headband is crafted from special fabric that offers breathability and compression to keep sweat and stray hair away from your face. This makes it a practical choice for yoga, jogging, running, or gym sessions where heavy headphones would slip or become uncomfortable. The fabric is also washable, provided you remove the electronic module first, which extends the lifespan of the product significantly compared to non-washable electronics. The microphone is integrated directly into the band, allowing you to answer calls without stopping your workout or removing the device.
This product shines in scenarios where mobility and comfort are paramount. The Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity provides a robust 45-foot range, giving you plenty of freedom to move around a large house or park. You get up to 10 hours of music playback or 12 hours of call time on a single charge, which covers most daily activities. However, because the speakers are embedded in a thin band rather than enclosed cups, the sound experience is open-air. This means bass response is different from over-ear models, and there is no isolation from external noise. It is not designed for audiophiles seeking deep immersion but for users who prioritize staying connected and comfortable above all else.
• Best for Battery Life → Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones offer up to 11 hours of playback, slightly edging out the YY KATTY's 10 hours, though the latter offers longer call time.
• Best for Sleep Comfort → YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones are superior here due to their 0.25-inch profile, which eliminates ear pressure when lying on your side.
• Best for Active Sports → YY KATTY wins decisively with its sweat-resistant, breathable fabric and secure fit that keeps hair off the face during intense movement.
• Best for Visual Appeal → Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones provide a unique, cute aesthetic with LED lights and cat-ear shapes that serve as a fashion accessory.
• Best for Noise Isolation → Neither offers active cancellation, but Tangxi's over-ear design provides slightly better passive blocking than the open-band design of YY KATTY.
• Best for Durability and Hygiene → YY KATTY's washable fabric construction makes it easier to maintain cleanliness after sweaty workouts compared to the plastic shell of the Tangxi.
• Best for Connectivity Range → YY KATTY boasts a wider 45-foot wireless range compared to the Tangxi's 10-meter limit, offering more freedom in larger spaces.
• Best for Versatility → Tangxi includes a 3.5mm jack option for wired use, providing a backup connection method that the YY KATTY lacks.
In my opinion, I would buy the YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones for my own needs, especially since I am looking for a reliable audio solution for hunting or outdoor activities where staying aware of surroundings is critical. The open-ear design of the YY KATTY ensures I can hear nature and potential dangers while still enjoying music or podcasts, whereas the Tangxi's over-ear design might block out too much environmental sound. Additionally, the ability to wash the headband and the comfort of side-sleeping make it a more practical, long-term investment for an active lifestyle. While the Tangxi is undeniably cute and great for a child's room, the YY KATTY's functional superiority in comfort and adaptability makes it the smarter choice for serious use cases.
Both products are open-ear options, but the YY KATTY Sports Headband is better suited for hunting because its thin design allows you to hear ambient sounds like wildlife or footsteps while listening to audio, whereas the Tangxi's over-ear cups block more outside noise.
Yes, the YY KATTY Sports Headband Headphones are made of washable fabric, but you must remove the electronic module before washing. The Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones have a plastic enclosure and should only be wiped clean with a damp cloth; they cannot be submerged or machine washed.
The Tangxi Cat Ear Headphones provide about 11 hours of playtime without lights and 7 hours with lights on. The YY KATTY Sports Headband offers up to 10 hours of music playback or 12 hours of talk time on a full charge.
Yes, both devices use Bluetooth 5.0 technology, which is compatible with virtually all modern smartphones, tablets, and laptops running iOS or Android without requiring additional apps for basic functionality.
