A career orientation for senior high school students was hosted by Philippine Cultural College FilSocMATLE Department on February 15, and organized by the Grade 12 HUMSS strand.
The orientation, entitled 꿈을 향해 날아오르다: Exploring Academic Opportunities Abroad, had Ms. Ivy Ganadillo as the guest speaker representing Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea. She is an Ewha Womans University International Student Ambassador and a Ph.D. student of International Relations at the Graduate School of International Studies at Ewha. She currently teaches at the Ateneo de Manila University, and has also handled courses at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
Ms. Ganadillo discussed the programs offered at Ewha Womans University, as well as the benefits of studying abroad. She also talked about the facilities available at Ewha Womans University, the different classes and accommodations made for international students, and the process for applying to study there. Students were encouraged to consider applying for academic opportunities outside of the Philippines.
Afterwards, an open forum was moderated by HUMSS teacher, Mr. Roberto Lim Jr., to accommodate questions from students and faculty members about studying abroad in South Korea, and about Ms. Ganadillo’s experiences as an international student in Ewha Womans University.
Being given the chance to study abroad is an opportunity that is sought out by many. Living in an entirely different country, learning the language and the culture of the place, and meeting new people from all over the world are all things that can be experienced if you decide to soar high and pursue your studies abroad.
At the end of the program, the Grade 12 HUMSS students also announced the launch of their website, Sapiens, which aims to promote the study of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and provide resources and information to interested students about various topics within HUMSS.
Sapiens can be accessed at https://sites.google.com/philippineculturalcollege.edu.ph/pccmainhumss.
