VIRTUAL SHS RESEARCH FORUM HOSTED

The Senior High School Research Forum was the final gathering for the school year for the Grades 10 to 12 students. Held last April 28, it was organized by the Senior High School (SHS) Head Teacher Mr. Rodmar Joseph Corcuera and the SHS research advisers.
The meeting started with opening remarks from Dr. Sining Kotah. "We are finally seeing the fruits of the results of our labors, especially our beloved teachers' hard work," she said, and reiterated that we should never give up and should strive to surmount the obstacles we encountered.
There were four reactors for the program. These included accounting teacher Mr. Rafael Ocampo for the Accounting, Business, and Management (ABM) strand, social science and AP faculty Mr. Leonard Catubay for the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand, Mathematics Coordinator Mr. Valentin Limson for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand and PCC Main Vice President Dr. Sining Kotah for all strands.

HUMSS Research Papers:
A Semiotic Analysis of the Thriller Films Mother! (2017) and Parasite (2019), presented by Hazel Lao (12B-HUMSS)
Wearing Cut Sleeves: Unpacking Narratives of Coming Out by Chinese Filipino LGBTQIA+, presented by Hiraya Marcos (12B-HUMSS)
STEM Research Papers:
Optimal Strategies in Deliveries: Application of Algorithms to the Transportation Problem (TP) and Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP), presented by Hance Uy (12C-STEM)
Concentration of Yogurt Bacteria (Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus) Cultivation on Tryptic Soy Agar and Homemade Agar, presented by Sheila Beninsig (12C-STEM)
After each presentation, the reactors were invited to give comments and ask further questions about each research project. Following all six presentations, a question and answer session was held, and audiences were encouraged to send in their questions for the presenters via the chatbox.
The SHS Research Forum aimed to encourage students and to show them research topics that may be pursued in the future.
