In compliance with their work immersion course, the graduating students of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand held their culminating activity entitled Stemming From Our Roots: STEM Culminating Activity 2021 via Zoom on April 23, 2021.
The STEM Culminating activity was held from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and attended by the Grade 10 students and the Grade 11-STEM students. The event started with the opening remarks of the main campus Vice-President Dr. Sining Kotah where she mentioned that the culminating activity would serve as an assessment on how well the students could apply the knowledge that they learned from STEM classes.
Four groups of STEM students presented their chosen topics. These involved in the program were the following: A Leap Towards the Future: Jack the Gripper, a demonstration of the application of robotics, which was led by Hance Louie Uy; STEM Web Page, a Google Sites webpage dedicated to the STEM strand, which was led by Sheila Marie Beninsig; Hydroponics, a soilless planting technique that uses a nutrient-rich solution, which was led by Desiree Lim; and The Basics of Soap Making, a demonstration of the soap making process, which was led by Weihong Chen. Each activity exhibited a final product with the guidance of various former and current science and computer teachers in PCC Main.
A video presentation was also shown where PCC Main STEM alumni gave their testimonies regarding the strand. The event concluded with an open forum gathering questions and insights from the program’s attendees.
