STEM SENIORS LAUNCH CULMINATING ACTIVITY ON DISASTER READINESS

With the theme “First Aid and Disaster Readiness”, Grade 12 STEM students organized their final program of the year on April 7, 2022.
The program was attended by over 90 students, teachers, and school officials. The program was split into two segments of four hours. The first part featured a talk by Mr. Patrick Sevilla, a representative from the Philippine Red Cross-Manila Chapter. Sevilla delivered a detailed explanation of the importance of and principles used in first aid. Highlighting the importance of awareness and alertness in emergency situations, He further enumerated different scenarios and the necessary actions to carry out in each one, and he also demonstrated the use of different techniques and equipment used by emergency response teams. Additionally, at the end of his talk, Mr. Sevilla also entertained questions in an open forum where the audience asked pertinent questions regarding the topics discussed.
Following a short break, the second segment of the culminating activity commenced. The program began with the presentation of videos covering the five most common disasters in the country, namely typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, fires, and tsunamis. Each video also covered steps on how to prepare for disasters in general.
At the end of the program, one final video covering the experiences and achievements of STEM students was also presented.
