Honoring the World Teacher’s Day, selected Senior High School (SHS) students under the guidance of SHS Head Teacher Mr. Rob Lim Jr. hosted a program exclusively for the personnel of Philippine Cultural College, Manila last October 5, 2021 at 12p.m. via Zoom Videoconferencing.
A video greeting by grade school students and greeting card audio-visual presentations were laid out at the program. High school students also projected their own video greetings and a video compilation of memes they created wherein they came up with humorous and heartwarming memes. The ITC Department created a short montage video that was shot and edited on the same day, showcasing some greetings from the personnel.
The students also prepared various games and activities in between the different videos to entertain and amuse the teachers. Never Have I Ever... was an activity where all participants were asked to raise their hands at first, and if they had done or experienced the different situations presented to them, they should lower their hands. Another one was, Do I Know You???, a short game that was held through Quizizz.com to challenge the teachers’ knowledge about their colleagues, different facts were taken from the personnel themselves through a survey conducted prior to the program. The last game was Tongue Twister, a game that stimulated the teachers’ skills in pronouncing and reading the different tongue twisters written in English, Filipino, and Chinese.
Richard Shao (11A-ABM) was invited to give a message of thanks, “Thank you to all the teachers for entering the lives of our students and becoming part of our life’s journey,” he said in his speech. Aspen Kang (10A) was also invited to give her remarks, she said, “Salamat sa paglikha ng isang masaya at ligtas na kapaligiran sa edukasyon para sa amin. Hindi sapat ang mga salita lamang upang masuklian ang lahat ng mga pagsisikap at pagsusumikap na inyong ginagawa upang mailabas ang aming pinakamahusay.” A video of Chen Liang Lim (5A) was also presented where he expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the teachers’ vital role in today’s education.
Volunteer SHS students conducted a virtual World Teacher's Day celebration to give appreciation and recognition to not only the teachers but also the other personnel of the school who all contributed to the success of an online-based education.
