SHS Day: Kapehan and Synergy Event

Philippine Cultural College - Main held its first-ever face-to-face Kapehan 3 and SHS Synergy last January 15, 2024, at the school’s auditorium and gymnasium to celebrate the academic week.
The program was composed of two parts: “Kapehan 3” and teambuilding, namely “SHS Synergy” with the theme “Odyssey: Navigating Legacy, Charting Success.
The Kapehan began at around 8:30 AM with an audience from grades 10-12.
Before the program officially started, the audience had to prepare their drinks at the coffee station to enjoy them while listening to the guest speakers later.
Afterward, Dr. Polly Wee Sy, the school president, and Dr. Sining Marcos Kotah, the school vice president, gave their welcoming and inspiring words.
“Your Senior High School years are some of the most important years of your academic life,” said Dr. Polly Wee Sy in her opening speech of the program, saying that our Senior High School years will most likely influence the career paths we will choose.
Dr, Sining Marcos Kotah greeted the guest speakers, welcoming them back to their alma mater saying, "Once a PCCian will always be a PCCian, and no matter what happens, your linkage with our alma mater will never be lost.”
The event was followed by an opening song number by Katherine Soliven and Leunice Sy, with a song titled “I’ll Always Remember You” by Hannah Montana.
Mrs. Tabuzo then introduced the six alum guest speakers.
The six guest speakers:
Eisenhower Yu
Nika Gabrielle Teng
Bryan Gadingan
Fernando Lao
Angelica Magullado
Jenson Sy
The speakers were divided into teams (Team A and Team B). There were three segments in this open forum: one-word description, fast talk, and open discussion.
Team A: Byan Gadingan, Nika Gabrielle Teng, Eisenhower Yu
Team B: Angelica Magullado, Jenson Sy, Fernando Lao
The three segments consist of topics related to senior high school life, college life, and life after college, which are informative to senior high school students.
After the open forum, there was a Question and Answer portion where the audience got to ask the guest speakers their questions. Lastly, there was a promotional video made by the senior high school students.
To close the program, Mr. Lavendia awarded the certificates of participation to the guest speakers. Mrs. Sia had her closing message: "Our Grade 11 students, you are in the middle; don’t feel that this is nothing for you. Because you also for sure learn so much because you’re in the middle.”
The second part of the program started around 12:30 PM, and the audience consisted of senior high school students only.
First, Mr. Teves welcomed the SHS students to the program and introduced the group advisers:
Red: Mrs. Alican
Black: Mr. Lavendia
Green: Ms. Berin
Blue: Mr. Paaslibo
Maroon: Ms. Marquez
Next, the warm-up session was led by Mr. Blas and Mr. Tenedora. The warm-up consists of stretching, aerobic exercise, and Zumba dance. There are a total of four games.
1st game: Players have to make a cheer.
2nd game: 10 players will make a square by being blindfolded.
3rd game: Caterpillar race. The first student will run a lap, and when he returns to the starting line, the second player will run with him while touching the back of the first player.
4th game: Longest line game. The players will make a line using their belongings. The team that’ll make the longest line wins.
After an eventful afternoon, the winners were then announced by Mr. Teves:

1st place: Team Maroon (Ms. Marquez)
1st runner-up: Team Black (Mr. Lavendia)
2nd runner-up: Team Blue (Mr. Paaslibo)
