With the theme “Rebranding Excellence”, Philippine Cultural College - Main Campus held its annual Academic Week last February 21-24, 2022.
This was the second time that the said activity was held online. And this time, it was to showcase not only the abilities of the students outside of their classrooms, but to exhibit the teachers' talents as well.
The first day of the Academic Week, which was on February 21, 2022, was kicked-off with classroom-based activities. In each subject, teachers gave out specialized tasks for their students to complete on the day. Some made infographic presentations on the usefulness of science, while others made experiments such as mini generators, real life applications of their lessons, and showcased home-based experiments. There were also subjects that required the students to write a reflection or do an analysis of the films or videos they were shown. Additionally some classes also paid tribute to the frontliners by drawing them as the modern heroes and making a chart on how pandemic heroes felt.
On the second day of the academic week, the Genyo Demofest was held. Respective teachers from the grade school department demonstrated their skills in technology as they competed and showcased their abilities in bringing Genyo, an online learning platform, into the classroom. The teachers were judged by Vice President, Dr. Sining M. Kotah, Ms. Bea Joy Berras, an E-learning specialist from Genyo, and a department head that the competing teacher wasn’t under. The English Department Head, Mrs. Glenda Sia stated that she was amazed by the resourcefulness of the teachers and the well-packaged lessons they brought into the classroom. She also added that the grade school pupils were so well-versed in using the platform. It proved that Genyo was also frequently used outside of the Academic Week.
The following were the teachers who participated in the Demofest and the respective grade levels they taught in the endeavor:
Grade 1A - Mrs. Mariquin Rey-Najito
Grade 4B - Mr. Winston Gangan
