PCCIANS REJOICE IN VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS

Philippine Cultural College - Manila celebrated the Christmas season with its first-ever virtual Christmas program with the theme, Christmas in Our Home: A Virtual Get-Together Gathering held last December 15 and 16, 2021 via Zoom Video Conferencing.
Various performances were showcased by PCCians from kindergarten to senior high school students.
The Kinder Christmas Program was held on December 15 which was hosted by Ms. Catherine Cruz and Ms. Ayleen Keng. The first segment was by the parents and Pre-Kinder A pupils wherein a mini aerobics routine was performed to show how to stay fit amidst the pandemic. A rendition of the Pre-Kinder B pupils of the song Jingle Bell Rocks and《谢谢我们是一个家人》was also shown, while the pre-nursery & nursery classes, as well as their parents, manifested their talents to the tune of Christmas Everywhere. The kinder pupils also spread love and hope to everyone by staging the popular song Love Together, Hope Together. And lastly, the Kinder pupils expressed their gratitude and appreciation to their parents and guardians while dancing to the heartfelt song of 《童年》.
The following day, the Christmas events were split into two sessions. The first session was attended by the grade school pupils hosted by Angelo Magullado (5A) and Vania Sofia Tiu (6A). Two contests were featured in the said event: Dress Like Christmas, where pupils from Grades 1 to 3 displayed their creativity and resourcefulness in making a Christmas costume. The second contest was the Christmas Hat Making Contest which expressed the Grades 4 and 6 pupils’ creativity in making a Christmas hat.
The second session was attended by the high school students hosted by John Raphael Teng (12C-STEM) and Selene De Leon (9B). There were also various contests presented during this session, like the Grades 7 and 8’s Christmas TikTok Craze where students were able to exhibit their interpretation of Christmas through Tiktok, a Christmas story video contest participated in by the Grades 9 and 10 students where students narrated the story and meaning of their chosen Christmas song, while the Grade 11 students held a speech contest with the theme Fil-Chi Christmas Culture Amidst Pandemic: A Speech Contest. And the Grade 12 students participated in a short filmmaking contest projecting various stories about Christmas.
Both of the two sessions aired segments by the Salinlahi Dance Troupe dancing to Jingle Bell Rock and a dance performance to the song Let It Go by the Chinese Dance Troupe. A rendition of the song Andito Tayo Para sa Isa’t Isa (by ABS-CBN Music All-Star) performed by the PCC Main employees was also showcased, featuring grade school science teacher Ms. Agnes Apolonio, SHS mathematics teacher Mr. Oscar Deo Dacuba, grade school English teacher Mr. Jeruel Parohinog, TLE teacher Ms. Leslie Ann Aton, ITC personnel Ms. Mary Jane Macawili, and ITC personnel Mr. Erwin Cahinde. PCC Community represented by administrators including Dr. Sining Kotah, Mrs Glenda Sia, Mr. Rodmar Corcuera, Teachers Leslie Grace Chan and Julie Sy, alumni Hiraya Marcos and Brian Huang, and SHS students Lovelyn Ong and Justin Go also sang a song of hope entitled After the Outbreak. Aside from this, montages by teachers, administrators, ANTP, and NTP featured greetings and well-wishes of happy holidays to the rest of the PCC community.

Following the awarding, Teacher Ghie from Scholastic also handed out the Scholastic Star Reader Award to the top student of each batch that had read the most number of books from August 17 to December 6, 2021. The awards go to the following students:

Mrs. Sia expressed her sincere gratitude to each and every one who became a part of organizing this year’s virtual Christmas program. “This time, our Christmas is celebrated, maybe the same as last year, but this time I am grateful that you are able to celebrate it the PCC way,” she said. She also added, “I give you my hope that the magic of Christmas may fill every corner of your heart and your home with joy, now and always.”
The pandemic did not hinder the Christmas spirit of PCC as the school’s entire administrators and faculty worked hand-in-hand to make the program possible for its students.
