PCCians celebrated Chinese New Year, which occured on January 22 this year.
The Chinese department, led by Ms. Zeng Ying, the Chinese Supervisor, arranged Chinese New Year online activities for students on January 20, 2023.
Students and teachers were encouraged to wear red t-shirts or Chinese costumes to face-to-face classes on January 18. Teachers prepared some activities for students to celebrate the Chinese New Year on January 20, which was held online.
In some of the classes, the teachers showed the students films on how Chinese New Year was celebrated, how delicacies were prepared, and how some traditions were being followed. Many classes also participated in activities reflective of Chinese culture, such as rabbit-shaped paper cutting, word cutouts, and other more paper crafts.
Chinese New Year is often referred to as Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. Each year is said to be represented by an animal. This year is the year of the rabbit, and it is believed that it will bring us success, aspiration and peace.
