PCC, Manila -- The Science Department organized various activities for the celebration of Nutrition Month 2021 with the theme “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan, First 1000 Days, Tutukan!” last July 26 to 30.
The Grade School pupils produced an infomercial called Snack Smart where they discussed which snacks were healthful or not. They also had an activity called My Healthy Tummy where they were given templates of the stomach to fill up with pictures of healthful food. An activity called Healthy Community Eating was also held where pupils and teachers ate healthful food together virtually during their science class.
Meanwhile, the Junior High School students prepared a vlog called Ref Raid: What’s Inside My Fridge? where various foods inside the students’ refrigerator were shown while showing the nutritional value of each.
Moreover, as the culminating activity, the Senior High School students showcased their cooking skills, as well as their knowledge about the nutritional value of their dishes, in an activity entitled “Meal Masters: A Virtual Cooking Demo Fest” last July 30. The videos prepared by the students were presented. Expert commentators namely Dr. Sining M. Kotah, Mrs. Catherine Ong, and Mrs. Rowena De Leon provided insights and suggestions for each dish presented.
The following groups presented their dishes during the cooking demo:
Healthylicious and their Creamy Garlic Chicken Breast,
Pepper Rice and their Pepper Fast-Steak.
The Sixth Flavor and their Pan-Roasted Chicken with Lemon-Garlic Green Beans and Cherry Tomatoes with Strawberry Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark
Ace's Kitchen and their Tomato Rice with Cheesy Egg Samgak or Triangle Gimbap

In the closing remarks of the Culminating celebration, Science Department Coordinator Mr. Rodmar Joseph Corcuera said, “Let us not rely on cures and medicine to keep our body healthy, instead we should help our body by doing our part of eating healthy and keeping active.”
