TONDO, Metro Manila - On June 26, 2025, the Philippine Cultural College (PCC) proudly marked its 102nd Founding Anniversary with the theme “Excellence Beyond a Century: Upholding Integrity, Fostering Futures” at the Auditorium. The celebration, infused with the spirit of the deep-rooted PCCian pride and talent, was a testament to the school’s legacy of upholding integrity in excellence, and fostering futures.
The foundation day was held in multi-platforms showcasing PCC’s adaptability to reach its stakeholders. The Grade School pupils joined the program via Zoom, and the High School students watched live in the auditorium. There was live-feed coverage on Facebook for the rest of the PCC community as well.
The celebration commenced with a resounding drum performance by the PCC Wushu Team. Mrs. Niu Siok Bee, Vice Chairwoman of the PCC Board of Trustees, delivered her welcome remarks, emphasizing the significance of PCC’s milestone. Her address was followed by Mr. James Ng, Treasurer of the PCC Board of Trustees, who gave his special message on the heart of PCC’s core values, and its vision and mission to build future well-rounded contributors to the country. Dr. Sining Marcos Kotah, Vice President of PCC-Manila, delivered her inspirational message via Zoom due to health reasons. Dr. Kotah reemphasized her challenge for PCC to write what shall be the content of a blank book for the School Year 2025-2026. Dr. Kotah also stressed that 102 years is not just a number, but a collective work of PCC’s forefathers through the ages. The PCC community must reminisce about the past to appreciate the future.
The program began with an endearing display by our kindergarten pupils, who charmed the crowd with “加油!加油!Amigo” (Go! Go! Amigo) and an adorable cheer dance. This was followed by a rendition of “感恩的心” (A Grateful Heart) sung by Huang Ruolin (Grade 2B), Steven Shi (Grade 8B), Jimmy Tan (Grade 12B), and Selina Shi (Grade 12B).
The cultural richness of PCC shone through with “七月的火把节” (Torch Festival In
July), a fiery dance performed by kindergarten pupils that was inspired by the traditional Yi Festival of Southwest China. Another song rendition entitled “我们的时光” (Our Time) sung by Jimmy Tan (Grade 12B) and Selina Shi (Grade 12B) was a song about growing up and cherishing moments. Yet again, the kindergarten pupils continued to delight us with a graceful fan dance entitled “霸王别姬” (Farewell My Concubine).
The performances transitioned to more mature presentations starting with the Public Speaking Club (School Year 2024-2025), which delivered its own interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Annabel Lee”. The PCC Main Chinese Dance Troupe enchanted PCCians with a dance, entitled “绣球女” (The Embroidered Ball Maiden), a captivating dance inspired by a legendary tale of the Zhuang ethnic group.
The English Department Teachers energized their audience with a dance number “Made For Now”. The PCC Salinlahi Dance Troupe showcased their grace and agility with a modern Chinese contemporary dance entitled “未来的进击” (Advance to the Future). The PCC Wushu Team concluded the event with a powerful and rhythmic Lion Dance Performance.
The 102nd Foundation Day celebration, fueled by the talents of PCC, not only highlighted PCC's rich history but also the vibrant present and promising future.
