PCC Awards First Youth Ambassador
by Kaleah Dominique Sy (10A) | May 6, 2021
The first ever search for the PCC Youth Ambassador concluded with a press conference held on April 27, 2021 held via Facebook Live Streaming.
The competition was a search for the epitome of a model PCCian and was open to students from Grades 10 to 12, with up to two participants representing each section. Before the press conference proper, candidates were asked to prepare student profiles and introductory videos, which were essential in the rating of the search’s candidates. The introductory videos were judged by ITC head Mr. Jacky Chan, FILSOCMATLE coordinator Mr Daryl Teves, and the school's official videographer Mr. Mike Bryan Arcega. These videos were uploaded onto the PCC Student Council Facebook page for the public to know more about the candidates.
The judges for the search’s press conference were Kindergarten Supervisor Mrs. Grace Marasigan, Philippine Academy of Sakya Principal Dr. Divina Gracia Gaspar, and PCC Main Vice President Dr. Sining Kotah. The press conference was conducted in two parts. For the first part, candidates were called one-by-one to answer questions that were prepared by the judges. The order of the candidates was determined by spinning an electronic wheel. After the first round of questions, a video tribute prepared by the Salinlahi Dance Troupe for Filipino workers was shown.
For the second part, judges asked general questions, and candidates who wished to answer raised their hands to be recognized by the judges. The questions of the judges ranged from more personal topics, like the candidates’ reasons for joining the search for the PCC Youth Ambassador, to more widespread topics, such as some problems during the pandemic and the relevant social issues.
After the press conference, the audience were asked to vote for the People’s Choice Award. A video performance of the PCC Chinese Dance Troupe with their interpretation of《等风雨经过》 was shown. It was followed by the PCC Glee Club with their rendition of Bata ang Bukas.
Criteria for judging included the question and answer portion of the press conference, the candidates’ introductory videos, their student profiles, and the People’s Choice votes from the audience, in order to find the PCCian who best exemplified the values and traits of a role model for fellow PCCians. Awards were given after the press conference proper.
